Free Verse Farm is a hilltop herb farm run by two art-making, herb-loving farmers. The property boasts twenty sloping, knoll-laden, open acres overlooking the scenic village of Chelsea, Vermont. We have incredible views and forest trails that offer magical woodland wanderings.

We also invite you to explore our cultivated fields of herbs and vegetables and become acquainted with the wide variety of tea, culinary, and medicinal herbs that we grow and process on our farm. You can also visit with our friendly flock of chickens and the cows that spend their summer munching our delicious green pastures. Our full line of herbal products are for sale out of our farmhouse apothecary. Seasonal vegetables, meat, and eggs may also be for sale.

For amenities we offer a hot outdoor shower & sink, as well as an outhouse with a composting toilet, and picnic table. (Firepit coming soon!)

The town of Chelsea hosts a weekly summer farmers market, Fridays May through September, and is also home to a pub (The Wagon Wheel), two town greens, a small library, and a general store. Within 30-45 minutes of our farm you can reach the larger towns of Montpelier (state capital), South Royalton, Woodstock, and the Upper Valley Region (Dartmouth College), all of which offer a wide variety of attractions and services. Upon your arrival you will be given a welcome packet with information about our area and we'll be happy to provide you with any other tips you're looking for.

We look forward to hosting campers and sharing our love of this land with all who visit. We can't wait to meet you!

*PLEASE NOTE that this listing is accessible by vehicle via our farm road and is just under 1 mile uphill from our farm. You are welcome to hike up the hill to the site, but we highly recommend that if you are planning to drive up, that you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Additionally, because it is a dirt road, it may not be drivable in wet conditions.

*VISIT the online store on our website to pre-order any herbal products from our farm & apothecary. Just select "Pick Up at the Farm" at checkout to save on shipping fees.

Free Verse Farm is so wonderful! This area of VT is so beautiful and the farm was such a lovely spot to camp. The farm was beautiful and had an amazing view of the valley below. We also bought some marvelous tea and enjoyed a lovely cup from the top of the mountain. When they say you should have 4wd, they aren't kidding, but getting up into the Secret Meadow was worth it.
