Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water.

Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders.  The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet.  There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest.  The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders.  I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and I do my best to work with people to accommodate any needs.

In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe.  Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far.  All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too!

Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do.

For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail.

The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience.

Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog, Loki Bear.

Cindy (and Loki Bear) was a great host! She met us on arrival (at 9 PM) and showed us around her property -encouraging us to pick any site we liked.

We ended up in the Pine Forest and enjoyed a fire with the stars peeking through the trees surrounding our site.

We spent a lot of time down on the West River - a less than 10 minute trail from the site. We spent the day floating, reading, and ended with amazing sunset

Cindy went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back - both for the scenery and the company!

Cindy's farm is a beautiful, forested gem :) Very easy to find, when we arrived we were greeted by Cindy and her big, very sweet dogs, and given a tour and our pick from lots of great camping spots on her property. We chose a large clearing surrounded on three sides by tall pines with a large fire pit in the middle, plenty of space, privacy and such a soft layer of moss and pine needles that we felt like we were all sleeping in a real bed overnight! When we saw how large the land was (right off a large trail with a creek) we spent our first afternoon simply exploring the forests in her neighborhood. Cindy was really nice, accommodating, flexible, and a great host. I would definitely recommend this camping spot and come back again some time! Thank you Cindy!

Cindy's land is gorgeous & she was a fabulous host. It felt very private but we also knew we could go to her for anything we might need. Also, hiking out right from the site was great. Highly recommend camping here!

Cyndi and the Fox Farm were amazing! After a long trip up from NYC, it was the perfect camping get-away that we were aching for. The river is just down the way and our two pups loved running around and exploring.

Unfortunately, we had a bit of an accident while at the campsite that led us to spending our whole day off at the emergency clinic. Nonetheless, Cyndi was incredibly helpful through it and helped us feel comfortable despite our mishap. I would absolutely recommend a stay at the Fox Farm and don't forget to grab a taste of some of the wild berries behind the cabin. :)

This was our 3rd hipcamp experience, and the first time testing a 'primitive' campsite. The space was very private and attractive, and filled with these cute tiny frogs. We parked in the yard about 20 meters from the main house, and stayed in a wooded area with tall pines. We were able to enjoy the fresh spring and rafts for about two hours before an impressive down pour came through. We escaped into town and loved the brewery that Cindy recommended with views over a metal bridge and the heavy rain. We came back in the evening to quite a few small branches on the ground and a non stop dripping from the trees above that soaked our tent cover despite the rain ending long before. In retrospect, we would go back, maybe with a group of friends, and walk over to the Marina bar she recommended. It does feel weird not having bathroom access when you are so close to someone's house, so I might avoid the primitive campsites in the future that are so "close to home". Cindy was extremely helpful with all of our questions and arrival process, so I think that is my only recommendation to make it better, to set up a hidden port-a-potty or offer bathroom access.

Very private and beautiful location. We were greeted by Loki, the camp dog that was very friendly and playful. Would have been even better if there was a picnic table available and the fire pit was cleared. We would recommend.

What a magical and wonderful place! Cindy is a fantastic human and host, and we were happy to have had the opportunity to stay on her land. We have a 22 foot long van and were able to park in a beautiful and private grove of trees that we named the “Council of the Elders.” A river trail took us through a benevolent forest and then a short walk or bike ride into downtown historic Brattleboro. Highly recommended.

Matt, Ted and Julius (the infamous camper) were so fun to host and they added sparkle and grace to The location they stayed at- recently re-named by them as Council of the Elders! How perfectly appropriate. I would be so happy to host them again and highly recommend them to anyone. They are quality beings!

We had a great time with Cindy, she's a terrific host! Stayed in the 'Pine Forest' and hiked both sides of the West River trail. The site (and Cindy) gave off a really positive vibe, she really seems to enjoy hosting! Would recommend and plan on returning.
