This land is the home to Brad and Sarah, cats, gardens and a variety of wildlife. It is here that we run Roots School, a wilderness earth skills school, instructing adults and youth alike. The land has over a half a mile of river frontage and several streams, a beautiful varied forest, rambling topography, and plenty of wildlife. Many lessons in tracking may be found as whitetails, moose, black bear, fishers, bobcats, porcupine, coyotes, foxes, mink, ermine, snowshoe hare, wild turkey, and ruffled grouse, are seen and tracked. Often times we are also lucky enough to catch a hawk circling the pasture and to hear the barred owls calls in the darkness of night. The diversity of plants, trees, and animals make this an ideal place to study and grow, or simply hang out in and experience.

Yurt in the forest
100% (22)
Yurt · Sleeps 8 · 2 beds
Talk a walk in the woods along the southern branch of the Waits River and find yourself at a rustic and beautiful yurt.  This stands alone in a small clearing with surrounded by the Vermont forest.  This has a low key vibe where you can listen to bird song, sit by a fire, or take a walk along our many trails.     The land has over a half a mile of river frontage and several streams, a beautiful varied forest, rambling topography, and plenty of wildlife. The diversity of plants, trees, and animals make this an ideal place to explore the natural world.   The yurt is a 5-10 minute walk into the woods in the summer, and take a little longer with snow on the ground.   It has two full size beds inside, with room for folks to lay a bed roll out on the floor if wanted for.  There is a woodstove to keep things warm in the cold months (do contact me if you plan to use it). There is a large picnic table outside, along with an outdoor firepit to cozy up to. We are an active school, with classes often taught on the weekends.  The yurt is private to you, but expect to potentially see folks walking to class, the outhouses or tenting in the general area if you plan to be here on a spring, summer or fall weekend.

Camping at Sarah's site is a delightful experience, with visitors consistently praising the beautiful location and welcoming atmosphere. The yurt is a particular highlight, offering comfort and warmth with its wood stove, while the outdoor kitchen adds convenience. Guests appreciate the clear directions, well-maintained facilities, and the peaceful surroundings that provide a much-needed escape from busy life. While one review noted a desire for more firewood, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, making it a recommended spot for a serene getaway in nature.
