Beautiful views of the classic Vermont landscape, with the charm of Waterbury, access to mountains on all sides & the infamous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. All in all, endless opportunities for adventures & good eats!
Really great spot, had a great stay. Really nice, a little close to the road so not for you if total seclusion and immersion in nature is what you're after but still enough privacy otherwise. Would definitely return.
Take this review with a grain of salt, because my buddy and I visited in mid November--not the ideal time of year for outdoor camping in the northeast. Also, we arrived after dark and had to leave early morning. However, here are a few short notes of our experience: When we arrived, Dan was quick to shoot us a message, making sure we knew where and how to park along the highway near his place, and he was easy to communicate with. However, we had a hard time finding a great place to set up the tent, and we didn't find a place to build a fire (which was sort of important given the time of year we were camping). I will say, though, that the land and the creek near which we set up are both very pretty, and I wish we could have spent more time exploring the area the next day.
Dan was a great host even though we only met briefly. He was quick to respond with directions and to let us know about the fireworks in town. Great spot to stay if you’re in a pinch for a night and need a place to set up a tent and crash. Site is close to the road so traffic was a bit noisy but all in all still a comfortable spot and would definitely recommend in a pinch!
Dan and his family were extremely nice and welcoming upon arrival. They have a gorgeous huge piece of property near Thatcher Brook and a main road. We knew we would be close to a road when booking (read the other reviews) so we didn’t mind this at all. Waterbury is a really rad little town with excellent craft beer establishments and restaurants, which Dan can suggest. This place was awesome and beautiful. If you want to do some bushwhacking you can get way away from the road but we didn’t find the need. His ducks are also awesome.
