The original idea for Zion's Camp and Cottages was to provide a space for campers when the Park was full. Well the city did not want me to do that, so we came up with something even better. We have now built 24 bunkhouses on three acres. It is still in the city, but not on the main highway. They are really more like hotel rooms than bunkhouses with a king size bed and a set of bunk beds. It is the setting and peacefulness that really sets us apart from both hotels and campgrounds.
Our property is a little under three acres. Each bunkhouse has a king sized bed and a set of bunk beds (pillows included). Each also has a full bathroom, TV, WiFi, full size fridge, microwave, and AC/Heat. They also include a hair dryer, blender, crockpot, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker, and cooler for your use.
We’ve made an effort to make the property as environmentally friendly as possible. The property is powered by 96 solar panels which is enough to supply all the energy we need. The water heaters in the bunkhouses are electric (no natural gas required) and each bunkhouse has a high efficiency air conditioner and heater that are super efficient and quiet, to make your stay as comfortable and as low impact as possible. The buildings are also outfitted with high efficiency LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. We also use “green” cleaning supplies and cleaners to lessen the impact on humans and the environment. We’ve made linens optional which will also reduce resources dedicated to laundering sheets and towels. The water for the lawn and plants is pressurized irrigation water which does not take away from the culinary drinking water in the area.
The bunkhouses are set up with two per building, so if you have a larger group you can rent two units and use the connecting door.
This is a beautiful piece of land with a grove of large cottonwood trees as its centerpiece. We are constantly improving the property by adding more plants and trees to attract birds and other wildlife. Outside you will find hammock posts for you to set up your own hammock and enjoy the stars. We try to have minimal outdoor lighting to preserve the tranquility of the night sky. We also have a communal food prep area where you can set up your own camp stove or use one of the several charcoal or propane barbecues onsite, on a first come, first serve basis (charcoal is not provided, propane is).
Laundry facilities are not available onsite, but there is a laundromat a few minutes away.
We are located off the main highway, so it is relatively quiet. The neighborhood is a mixture of older homes and newer ones. La Verkin is a small town located about 20 minutes from the entrance to Zion National Park. The scenery on the short trip to Zion is beautiful. We have a great grocery store, a couple of gas stations and an excellent coffee shop. We are also located next to Hurricane, which has fast food places, Walmart, movie theatre, restaurants etc. If you need more than that, we are about 25 minutes from St. George, which has much more.
If you are also going to Bryce National Park, you will have a drive of a little over two hours. Many of our guests use our place as a home base to visit both of these amazing parks. Bryce is a little more isolated than our area and that seems to be one of the reasons they use La Verkin as a base of operations.
When you visit Southern Utah, you are guaranteed to see spectacular sights with plenty of places to go and things to do. We hope you stay with us and then return again, like countless guests before you.

This place was awesome!! It is such a clever way to provide full amenities at an affordable cost, and with the ability to sleep five people, this place is a no brainer for families traveling into Zion. Speaking of Zion, it is only a 25 minute drive to get to the entrance of the park, which means you'll have a better chance of making it on that 6am shuttle in the park's busy months. The beds were comfortable, the shower was excellent, and between the gas bbq and the partial kitchen we had all that we needed for both breakfast and dinner. Bringing our own linens didn't feel like a hassle at all, and besides that the room felt just like any other full service hotel room. Overall, we had an excellent experience, I would definitely recommend staying for both its proximity and price!
Room was well kept and clean.
Super clean and nice spot to hangout after a day of hiking! Had all the essentials with gas grill and a very nice communal firepit. Super close to gas stations and grocery stores and 20min from Zion. Only thing to note is that it is not in a secluded area, very close to other houses and roads. If your looking to get lost in nature this is not the place but a fantastic stay otherwise! Would definitely recommend.
The Zion Camp bunk house is perfect base camp for exploring the National Park and surrounding area. It really did exceed our expectations -- all the creature comforts were provided, amd the space was super comfortable for our group of four. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location while visiting Zion. Room was clean with plenty of space. Having a fire pit was nice to warm up and heat up food. We would definitely stay again!
Nice, spacious room. Appreciated the full refrigerator and access to a BBQ.
Super clean, with all the necessities. The bunk houses are nice, spacious, and very comfortable. We made s'mores at the fire pit. And prepared dinner in our room, which saved money. Over all, is recommend to anyone. We loved our stay 💕
The cabin was clean, modern, and a step above basic. The hvac is a split unit which is quiet, though the thermostats does take about 10min to sense the temperature change you set. There’s the described cooking appliances and plenty of supplies. Bedding was comfortable, though the large bed is quite unstable, so if you move, the whole bed moves. The mattress itself is comfortable though. Hot water gets hot almost immediately in the kitchenette and bath, and there are plenty of towels, both cloth and paper.
The location is ideal to Zion and other little businesses in La Verkin and Hurricane.
