Are the campsites full? Stay with us!
The original idea for Zion's Camp and Cottages was to provide a space for campers when the Park was full. Well the city did not want me to do that, so we came up with something even better. The original idea for Zion's Camp and Cottages was to provide a space for campers when the Park was full. Well the city did not want me to do that, so we came up with something even better. We have now built 24 bunkhouses on three acres. It is still in the city, but not on the main highway. They are really more like hotel rooms than bunkhouses with a king size bed and a set of bunk beds. It is the setting and peacefulness that really sets us apart from both hotels and campgrounds.
Our property is a little under three acres. Each bunkhouse has a king sized bed and a set of bunk beds (pillows included). Each also has a full bathroom, TV, WiFi, full size fridge, microwave, and AC/Heat. They also include a hair dryer, blender, crockpot, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker, and cooler for your use.
We’ve made an effort to make the property as environmentally friendly as possible. The property is powered by 96 solar panels which is enough to supply all the energy we need. The water heaters in the bunkhouses are electric (no natural gas required) and each bunkhouse has a high efficiency air conditioner and heater that are super efficient and quiet, to make your stay as comfortable and as low impact as possible. The buildings are also outfitted with high efficiency LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. We also use “green” cleaning supplies and cleaners to lessen the impact on humans and the environment. We’ve made linens optional which will also reduce resources dedicated to laundering sheets and towels. The water for the lawn and plants is pressurized irrigation water which does not take away from the culinary drinking water in the area.
The bunkhouses are set up with two per building, so if you have a larger group you can rent two units and use the connecting door.
This is a beautiful piece of land with a grove of large cottonwood trees as its centerpiece. We are constantly improving the property by adding more plants and trees to attract birds and other wildlife. Outside you will find hammock posts for you to set up your own hammock and enjoy the stars. We try to have minimal outdoor lighting to preserve the tranquility of the night sky. We also have a communal food prep area where you can set up your own camp stove or use one of the several charcoal or propane barbecues onsite, on a first come, first serve basis (charcoal is not provided, propane is).
We have laundry facilities that are available during designated hours for a small fee per load. Available times are posted at the office.
We are located off the main highway, so it is relatively quiet. The neighborhood is a mixture of older homes and newer ones. La Verkin is a small town located about 20 minutes from the entrance to Zion National Park. The scenery on the short trip to Zion is beautiful. We have a great grocery store, a couple of gas stations and an excellent coffee shop. We are also located next to Hurricane, which has fast food places, Walmart, movie theatre, restaurants etc. If you need more than that, we are about 25 minutes from St. George, which has much more.
If you are also going to Bryce National Park, you will have a drive of a little over two hours. Many of our guests use our place as a home base to visit both of these amazing parks. Bryce is a little more isolated than our area and that seems to be one of the reasons they use La Verkin as a base of operations.
When you visit Southern Utah, you are guaranteed to see spectacular sights with plenty of places to go and things to do. We hope you stay with us and then return again, like countless guests before you.
