I will start with the positive things about this site: Great views, established fire pit with table and chairs, and a tent with a comfy bed in it. The not so positive: The listing leads you to believe that this location is close to Zion, but it is actually about an hour away, so plan accordingly. It also leads you to believe that these tents have restrooms, when in fact the restrooms are outhouses located a walk away from your tent. The showers are wooden stalls with water bags in them. Firewood costs an extra $20, but I recommend getting it cheaper from the gas station on the main highway. Overall, it honestly feels a little pricey for what you get...however, the bed is comfortable, (bring your own blankets because it gets cold and the thin blanket provided is not enough!), and the views are pretty magnificent.
Tents are spaced out and all have privacy. Brand new bathroom area is fantastic. Clean modern toilets and showers in each room with towels and soap all ready to go! Great location right up against gorgeous rock foothills. Each tent has a mini charcoal weber, lighter fluid, match stick, three fire pit logs, two chairs. Bed was clean and comfortable with sheets and pillows. All very welcome!!
You can hear the sound of the main road (not too loud) through the night. The zipper to our tent was broken. I think the biggest issue is with booking through places like hip camp or AirBnB is that you never speak to anyone and there seems to be a lack of responsibility in this dynamic. I have read on other reviews that people were moved multiple times before getting into a tent and my situation was no different. I had a confirmed booking in tent #10, which is the best tent for two reasons. Closest to the bathroom and also it is the only one that has a small amount of shade falling on the tent and cools off that tent much earlier than the rest, and believe me it was HOT in that tent before the shade arrived.
I had moved into my tent and about two hours later someone showed up with a confirmed reservation to the same tent from AirBnB. It is now 7p and you are standing there in the middle of nowhere and there is o no one to talk to about the issue? It was very awkward and I texted the whole affair to the “host” and never heard back, which indicates there is a “oh let it work itself out” attitude, which I really do not appreciate. I think places like HipCamp can do better in this area, it is all wrapped in a package that appears very friendly and hands on and personal, but nothing in more personal that actually talking to a human being, even if culturally it is drifting farther and farther way.
I would recommend and I would go back, but I would MAKE SURE my confirmation was acknowledged by all parties
The tents sit underneath a beautiful mountain, providing stunning views BUT:
1. There is poor organisation and management of site bookings
2. There are far too few bathrooms for number of guests resulting in 15+ minute waits
3. The bathrooms are not clean because they are so heavily used
4. The campsite was still littered with previous peoples food scraps
5. After paying $20 for firewood it would be helpful if there was a match or lighter that could be provided to ignite the fire (especially given the whole bottle of light her fluid)
Good location with great views of the mountains.
Site management could stand to be improved. We were moved from the site number that we reserved without notification until we arrived, which made for a bit of a confusing check in. The $20 fee to use the camp fire seems a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Be prepared to wait in line to use the bathroom and expect them to be trashed by the morning.
We had such a great time at this campsite! The tents are clean, tons of room, bed was comfy, there’s a fire pit outside, and it’s super close to Zion! Alec was great and made sure we were always well supplied. I was thoroughly pleased with this stay :)
what a wonderful experience!! our spot was clean and so the tent. our spot (15) was surrounded by trees which was great, the tent door was facing the breathtaking Mountain View. night time was the best, the stars were so bright was unbelievable! bathrooms and showers were clean.
