The vibe at Ghost Horse Ranch
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This place is GORGEOUS. Its surrounded by red buttes that were one of the filming locations in Westworld. Darlene was so hospitable and gave me a great restaurant recommendation for lunch.
My fiancé and I spent Memorial weekend between Utah and Arizona. The Ghost Horse Ranch felt very private yet spacious. Darlene was kind enough to meet us upon arrival and show us to our campsite. We had a dedicated fire pit and water source to make the essential items easily accessible. The property was covered with bushes for privacy, yet there were a few open spots large enough to setup a tent. Overall, it was a great experience and an accommodating site. We would stay there again!
Darlene and Steve were great, and met me at the site to show me around. The setting is gorgeous, with nice cleared campsites with water & fire pits. They all have access to a little creek with lots of shade. There's enough around that it doesn't feel totally desolate, but sites are far enough apart to provide total privacy. Convenient location close to Kanab.
We had a very nice stay and the place is basic but beautiful. There is a hose with clean fresh water and a place to make a fire. And the host even gave us some firewood. Would definitely stay again!
DO NOT BOOK THIS SITE. ! I expect sometimes that these sites won’t be like the pictures, but in this case, the site was nothing at all like what was described. There was nothing flat or cleared to pitch a tent on, there was no toilet of any kind, and there was no shower, hot or cold. The site was also located right next to the highway.
We ended up not staying there and getting a site down the road. I contacted Darlene two days later to ask for a partial refund (the cost of our other camping). We paid Darlene $154 for 3 nights, and I requested she refund $69 ( the cost for three nights at our other campsite), thereby still leaving her money for literally nothing. She refused, saying we should have contacted her earlier. While that may be true, we had no cell or internet service and contacted her as soon as we were able. This made no difference to her, and she refused again, not responding to any other contact.
Terrible site, unfriendly host, absolutely nothing like the listing. They posted one picture of the site, and everything else is pictures of somewhere else. Do not book this site.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ghost Horse Ranch. We used it as a base camp to visit Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim, Kodachrome Basin. Coral Sand Dunes, and a bit of Grand Staircase Escalante NM. The campground is a work in progress but that did not distract from the beauty of the surrounding area. It is just a few minutes from Kanab, making it very easy to get ice and groceries or go out for a meal. We loved the privacy.
