Retro Star Ranch is safe and secluded. We have 25 acres of land at the end of a private road in a secret hidden valley not far from SLC, Ogden and Eden Utah. This land is pristine and connected to over 5000 acres of undeveloped open space. The property is part of a recreation property subdivision. You might see some fellow campers on quads, occasionally you might hear gunfire, but you're more likely to see deer, fox, grouse, birds of prey, moose and possibly elk. Not far from Causey Reservoir and the South Fork of the Ogden River both of which have great water for floating and fishing. We have a metal fire ring (please check for fire possible fireban) on site and a 30 ft geo dome which is great for hanging hammocks in. We don't have a lot of trees so bring your hats and shades. Mornings and late afternoons are beautiful. One of the few places where in the area where you can really hear the silence.
You could easily get here in a sedan when dry but not recommended for sports or low clearance vehicles. If you have 4x4 that is better, especially if you want to venture to our last campsite or pull a trailer here. We've pulled a 30' foot trailer but the road is skinny in places and the turns are tight, bumpy from cobbles and ruts and often have puddles. There is about 2 miles of that climbs over a ridge. If you're adventurous and a confident driver on dirt roads you will have no problem. If it's you're first time pulling a trailer or if you have a low clearance then this might not be the spot for you.

Second weekend in a row at Retro Star Ranch which should speak for itself regarding a review. Bryan is an excellent host and the location is beautiful. Highly recommend and will be back again shortly. Book it before WE do!
The site was great but there definitely wasn’t a lake or anything near by or much to do outside of hiking unlike it said online. That aside we had a blast once we found the location which took a bit. I loved how private it was and yet still open and spacious. We definitely plan to go back!

The Knoll is a beautiful setting with gorgeous views. Everything was great...with the exception of the area having a fair share of ATV activity which is mildly disturbing. Beautiful region to explore for drives, hikes and boating. Brian is a great host and checked in with us from his site down the hill.

Beautiful view, quiet location and a close drive offers plenty of water access (between Causey Res, Ogden River and Pineview Res). No shade or trees, so make sure you bring your a shade option. Rocky ground, so if you need to tether your tent, be sure to bring stout stakes and a hammer.
We stayed at the Knoll two weeks ago and we booked the Knoll and the Dome one night this week. Spectacular views! Love that there are no amenities or people. There aren’t many trees so it does get hot. Would recommend bringing a shade structure if you will there during the day. We plan to book again.
Beautiful spot. Make sure to bring something for shade as there isn't really any on the site. Also don't forget to bring lots of water.
We took a road trip across the country and this was definitely the most beautiful site that we stayed at. Nestled into a valley in the mountains with beautiful views and really secluded. The road wasn't hard to navigate in a sedan, even when it had rained a little.
Beautiful secluded area. Did some hiking, mountain biking, fishing and kayaking nearby. Bryan was a great host. He let me know that the knolll would be better for my group then the dome. Very accommodating. Would definitely go back.
The only con was the very rough road up the mountain ( last leg to the knoll). Just take it slow and you shouldn't have any problems.

Great views and plenty of room

Sorry you missed out on Causey Reservoir, only 3 miles away as well as the entire South Fork of the Ogden River which has great fishing and places to explore. Red Rock Ranch also offers horseback riding even closer. Hipcamp does a poor job of explaining what is nearby. Did we mention bird watching and star gazing? That's what this place is all about. Thanks for the review though.
