There was a bit of confusion as to what this listing actually was so I hope this clears things up.

Book a room or space through the various listings - SEE THE ABOVE FOR ROOMS.

Thanks, Dana and Bill

Red Hen Gardens is for campers who want to book a room in our beautiful cottage! :) There is a shared bath if both rooms are booked.

You can see some photos of our property if you type in insanad  dot wixsite dot com hashtag red hen gardens . Hipcamp won't let me link the site but you can also find photos of the place on Red Hen Gardens on Facebook.

We have a glamper with a double and one single bed, a tent trailer with two queen sized beds, and room for your own tents or RV if you want to bring them. There is an outdoor couch and lounge chairs as well as an old 1962 Bluebird bus that I use as an art studio and has a couch and chairs for just relaxing, reading, or snuggling during a rain storm. It overlooks the fire pit and playground and is a fun place to play.

The fenced yard is large and there are several gardens, greenhouse, and flower gardens to enjoy. Well behaved people-friendly pets are always welcome.  We have chickens so if your dog might bother them we'll just close the gate for the chickens so that they are protected in their own yard. Fresh eggs and seasonal vegetables and herbs are free for our visitors. There are fruit trees in the area and plenty of places to access other fresh goods like cheese, honey, yogurt and milk products from organic farms. The closest grocery store is 17 minutes away so we recommend you purchase groceries before you come here to camp. There is a gas station five miles away and they sell some overpriced emergency food and have a small deli for sandwiches. We can share some refrigerator space if you don't have a cooler.

Our playground has a trampoline, swing, slide, sandbox, hobbit hut fort, and of course our art bus which is fun to play in for kids. There's a lawn area as well as cement patio for chalk drawing or games, and we have plenty of tables that can be set up or arranged for meals or parties. We have lights and colorful decorations that make it fun and festive. We have a pack-n-play if you need for an infant or toddler, as well as plenty of bedding and towels if you don't bring your own. We have some great toddler toys and a few fun things for bigger kids. We also have a lot of books, videos and other distractions if you just want to Netflix and chill (in the privacy of your own tent or other accommodations). We have HULU, Amazon Prime and a few other subscription services if you want to watch movies but our connection can be a little slow in the evening. We don't have cable TV. Bill and I are middle aged liberal hippie types who just enjoy good conversation, a mostly organic diet, and lots of loud laughter and light mindedness. We are happy to keep to ourselves and leave you your privacy or join you by the firepit and share stories and some laughter. We're pretty laid back and unfussy but clean and organized most of the time. Most of our neighbors are absent except on the occasional weekend when they come up from Vegas or other places. We have a nice park just 100 ft. from our own lot that has a great basketball court, playground and large grassy park to run or play softball. The town is very quiet, off the beaten path but close enough to access most amenities in a short drive. We have gorgeous views of the mountains, including Pine Valley Mountain, Bumblebee Mountains, Harmony Mountain, and of course the ever stunning Kolob Canyons. Look them up. They will take your breath away.

After trying to rent an outdoor space, my husband and I were lucky enough to get an indoor room at Dana and Bill’s house. Dana is an artist and her house is full of beautiful artwork- hers and others. Take a soak in the tub and admire her ocean painting. The kitchen cabinets that Bill and Dana did together are beautiful! The gardens are beautiful and an example of repurposing and hard work. The library bus, and play ground are eclectic and hip! Grab a cushioned seat around the fire pit and enjoy the Zion skies. ❤️ Can’t wait to visit again- will definitely get the camper tent and bring the kids!

Thankyou for that lovely response, Connie. We would have loved to spend more time with you and your husband. Next time we hope your whole family can come play. Thanks for putting up with my dumb poorly timed silly comments and the chaos that comes with a busy summer weekend.

I adore Red Hen Gardens. It's a truly enchanting place. Charming, peaceful, inviting gardens and the hosts are delightful. Red Hen Gardens is the perfect escape for a restful weekend, or an ideal base from which to explore Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, and various additional treasures unique to southern Utah. Stay at Red Hen Gardens anytime you can.

Wow, Dana was THE best hip camp host I have ever had! I have been to sooo many hipcamps and she outshines the rest by leaps and bounds!!! She was so kind and welcoming to us and helped make sure we had everything we needed. The best part was when we made a fire at the firepit Dana came out and enjoyed some stories and journeys with us. I can't wait to travel back through and swing by for a visit! She was lovely and her space was magnificent! You deserve the adventure!

Dana and Bill are fantastically warm hosts. We were always looked after and we're never left wanting. They lent hiking poles and water shoes when we decided to hike the Narrows in Zion and then served us a nice meal later in the evening. A yard full of fresh produce and fresh eggs were made available. If we didn't have so many plans I would have stayed around the house to take advantage of all that is offered.

Truly a bargain for what you pay for.

Dana and Bill are simply incredible hosts. They made my friend and I feel completely at home and welcomed. We stayed three nights in total and within that time I felt as if I was part of a new family. The property is beautiful and clean, and super fun and unique, also the beds are very comfortable. The fire pit outside is a great addition to hangout with the other campers in the midst of a awesome back yard with lights and a old painted school bus. I had a great time making smores and playing the guitar around the fire with new friends. Dana and Bill were super friendly they gave us thorough instructions for a beautiful hike on the less crowded side of Zion, and offered us fresh eggs in the morning from their lovely hens. I loved my stay and I am super grateful for everything we learned from Bill and Dana, I already miss it there! I would stay again in a heart beat, this place is the bomb!

My friend and I were doing a mini road trip, hit Joshua Tree, the Grand Canyon, and saw beautiful Zion. Dana and Bills place was the most welcoming and beautiful place we stayed on our trip (and might I add one of the best experiences I have had in general!!). We stayed two nights in their charming cottage, and one night in the amazing Green Glamper, which looks straight out of an 70s movie. LOVE! Their property is about a thirty minute drive to Zion/ Springdale, and is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. They also have the cutest vegetable garden and chicken coop, Dana made us eggs in the morning, delicious. I honestly felt at home the moment I walked in there. Thank you so much Dana and Bill, we miss you already!!

Thankyou, Adriana. I love that you loved the glamper. When I bought it Bill thought it was the biggest behemoth of an eyesore ever but I fell in love with the funky monstrosity instantly. I'm so glad you were comfortable. I really like relaxing in that glamper when I've been working in the yard. It really is funky and comfortable. I'm so glad you came. Please come back some day and play. It's fun here in the winter too.

You should 100% stay here!! Dana is the loveliest and most generous host we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The rooms were lovely, the whole place had a really friendly atmosphere, and the fresh eggs were exceptional. Dana will help you out with anything you need at all! We feel so privileged to have been able to stay with her, have no complaints at all, and will never find another host who compares!
