DO NOT BOOK UNTIL YOU'VE READ EVERYTHING!  It serves no one if you don't have a great stay.  I'm trying to provide a great location and an opportunity for convenient city parking.  The negative reviews are tiresome since they are all addressing things that are disclosed in the listing.

If you read the listing and still have questions, please reach out!  I've improved the listing based on feedback from reviews, and I answer ALL messages with pre-booking questions.

PROs: Convenient location! Park Bathrooms! Locked Gates! Great Price! Pet Friendly! Next to a city Park!

CONs: Next to a city park. Possibility of nighttime noise disturbances.

This is a fenced-in property right by the Provo River and the city park.   It's surrounded by trees and the smell and sound of the rushing river.

You'll have access to the private driveway, the gated entry, and you can place your tent or camper anywhere on the lot.

This is a great place to crash for the night on your way through the area or to set up for a few days of adventure!  We're steps from the Provo River trail that takes bikers and joggers to Utah Lake or up into Provo Canyon.

The river is just 100 feet away!  You can make your way to the edge and sit with your feet in the fresh flowing water.  The park is heavily wooded with lots of private spaces for meditation or exploration.  The small duck pond is home to many beautiful wild ducks that will be happy to accept your food offerings.

*SET UP: You may set up camp anywhere on the lot.  Our trailer is the one with the little flower planters next to it.  We don't mind neighbors.

*NOISE: Please note we are close to a train track and you WILL hear the train sound in the night.  We are also in proximity to a freeway which is not visible but sometimes able to be heard.

*SECURITY:  Both gates lock.  We are in a safe albeit public area. There is one streetlamp that lights the bridge going across the river to the bathrooms.  Other than that, it's very dark, so bring a good flashlight.  Because of the lack of lighting at night, it feels very private.  Some guests have reported it feels sketchy at night which is understandable for someone to feel when in new surroundings.  Yes, people use the path and sometimes the parking lot during the night, but we're in a very safe area compared to other cities.

*TOILETS: Toilets are in the city park and are usually open, though they close for the winter season.  There is a park just a little further down the trail that also has bathrooms.  It is better to plan on no toilet services during the winter.  We are not responsible for the city toilets so if you plan to judge your experience on them, please don't stay here.  ;)

*WATER: Drinking water is NOT available on the lot though if the park bathrooms are open, they have running water. The pavilions at the park also have spigots. Provo city water is safe to drink

*PRIVACY: The fenced in area is 1/2 acre.  The city park is at least 10 acres.  The parking area can see into our lot, however the playground/pavillions/duckpond is on the other side of the river across the bridge.  So patrons coming to the park and trail can see you, but I promise they don't care about you being on the lot.  Provo residents are very friendly.  Consider how much privacy you have in a campground where the tents are 20 feet apart.  You won't have other campers walking through your space but yes, you can be seen by the park goers.

*PETS: Pets welcome.  You MUST clean up after your dog.  One review mentions bones on the lot and we have never personally seen any.

*NEIGHBORS: There are up to 4 spots available on the property (3 plus our trailer).  First come, first served.  The entire property can be booked for a large group but if you book just one space, you most likely will have neighbors.  We have a trailer parked on the lot and we bring our kids usually on the weekend to play.  Even with up to 4 campers on the lot (3 plus our trailer), it's still more space than a campground, but if you do not want to have any neighbors, please reach out to us beforehand to book all 3 extra spots and we will make sure we do not come to the lot on the same day.

*ABSOLUTELY NO parties, no drinking, no drugs, no loud music.

*PRICING: If you love the lot and leave everything in great shape, we'll refund you $15!

Sarah was really nice and quick to respond to any questions we had. I loved that the lot is all fenced in so we were able to let our dogs run about. When I stayed there, the bathrooms at the city park were out of service, so we had to walk down the path to the other park. This wasn't bad during the day but felt a little sketchy after dark. Bring a flashlight and some pepper spray, you'll be alright. Can't beat the price!

It was great. There was access to the park w/lock. We were there just to rest. We were able to unload luggage and set outside and not worry about anything getting stolen

It was great, exactly as described. It was nice being able to let our dogs off leash while we stayed here.

As described, this is a lot separated from a city park and its parking lot only by a chain link fence. I’m guessing the lot once had a house on it and one day will again, but for now it’s strewn with bits and pieces of building materials, with animal droppings everywhere, maybe from the ducks in the city park. If you’re good with all that, this is good value for somewhere half an hour’s walk from downtown. If you’re hesitating, best find somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback. The building materials have been cleaned up and the animal droppings are gone. We had some goats on the lot during the summer of 2019 that will not be returning. :)

This is a good spot if you're passing through Salt Lake City and need a place to park your camper for the night. Sarah was very helpful and responsive. The rate was low and we got in late and left early so it was great for this purpose.
We stayed on a Friday night, so there were lots of people walking the trail that is along one side of the property (separated by a chain link fence). There's lots of visibility from park-goers, making this not the most private location. The bathroom is also a bit of a trek, especially when it's dark out!
It is right in the middle of Provo, which was great for us as we needed to do some grocery shopping the next day. Anyway, Sarah was great and the space was functional for its purpose!

This is a great spot for anyone traveling with dogs! Fully fenced and with park access, it’s perfect for a layover or recoup from the road. The site isn’t very private, as the host explained, but it’s secure and safe! The host, Sarah, was great and very responsive. I definitely plan on staying here again.

This spot did not work out for us. The lot itself was fine, but it is separated from the City Park parking lot by just a chain link fence. People were at the park until after dark, and then at 11:30PM a bunch of young-adults pulled in to socialize in the parking lot. Waaaaay too much noise, lights etc. Maybe if we were in a motorhome with AC and whitenoise on we could have slept, but we were just crashed out in the back of my pickup truck and it was intolerable so we got back on the road.

The fenced lot is nice if you have a dog. It's kind of noisy from the freeway, trains and people. Also the park bathrooms were not very clean.

Hipcamper Sarah
Response from Sarah, the Host, on May 22nd, 2020

Noise is disclosed in the listing. We are not responsible for the park bathrooms. Honestly, all we're trying to do is provide a safe and convenient place for those who need it. Campgrounds abound that are not in such a convenient location and who are happy to take your reservation for $40+/night. Our lot is $10. It's disheartening to continually have campers who don't read the listing. If you have questions please reach out before booking! I respond to every message!
