Description

Howdy, partner! Looking for some primitive tent camping out in the Wild West? Well, kick off those boots, lay down your ten-gallon hat, and stay a night at Cowboy Camp Camping Ground. Located on Highway 131, 18 miles from the junction with Highway 191, you’ll venture down a rough and tumble dirt road to get to this secluded spot. RVs and trailers are out of luck; horse-drawn wagons are a maybe.

We had an amazing stay at Cowboy Camp! We camped in site #6 on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 (High: ~80F, Low ~40F) We were the first group to arrive at the campground around ~2pm. Only 3 of the 7 sites were occupied by the end of the night.

The access road into the campground off the highway has a few deep ruts but should be manageable in any vehicle. We were fine in our low clearance Honda Fit, just go slow!

Each of the seven sites has it's own picnic table and fire pit. There is also an open air pit toilet in the middle of the campground.

All of the sites have decent spacing between them, but little shelter or privacy. Site 7 has the most privacy as it's at the end of the road.

Site #6 overlooking the valley and open air pit toilet.Picnic table and fire pit at Site #6.Looking back at Site #4 (I believe) across the campground from Site #6.
