What a heavenly place! We arrived late in the middle of a pizza party in the outdoor kitchen in front of the barn. We were welcomed with a hug and invited to eat like we were already friends. We pitched our tents on the edge of a grassy hill and then swam in the pool in the light of the moon.
In the morning the kids ran wild between the bikes, toys and carousel in the barn, the pool, and the pond. As we left they asked if we could come back to live here. I wish. But we ARE going back. Thanks Mamie!!
This is a very professional and busy horse farm. We had a nice stay. It was fun to watch the horses being ridden and trained.
We didn’t have a chance to meet Marcy in person but the person who greeted us was able to show us everything we needed and answer our questions. No issues.
Beautiful farm, lovely hosts. We arrived a few hours ahead of a tremendous thunderstorm! Our hosts offered us their safe warm barn and we huddled there during the wind and rain. Our hosts came to check on us before bedtime and were so helpful and kind. We felt safe and very taken care of.
Big Quiet was our last Hip Camp stop on a 10-day cross country trip. We loved each place a lot, but Big Quiet beat them all. It is exactly as beautiful as the pictures - if not more so. Everything from the land to the mountains in the background to the sky and the weather was absolutely ideal. We kept taking pictures of the same views as the sun went down because it just kept getting more and more incredible.
We met Rod in the morning when he came down for breakfast with his crew. They were all so friendly and interesting and the breakfast was delicious. The sausage was just wonderful.
I will be referring everyone within 100 miles to Big Quiet as a destination and not just a necessary stop along a long road trip. I will be going back without question, but will make sure I stay for more than one day.
We stopped at Justin Trails on our way across country - but we would go back to Wisconsin just to stay there again. The farm is absolutely picturesque. Beautifully situated and pristinely maintained. We loved our camping spot, the fire pit, the farm on one side and the gardens on the other, and the goats grazing at the top of the hill. I dearly wish we had stayed long enough to play a round of disc golf as the course looked spectacular.
Donna is wonderful. She invited us to breakfast at a very reasonable rate, and invited our kiddos (all five of them) over to the player piano where she played several scrolls for them while they danced merrily around the breakfast table. It was totally above and beyond, but the kids (and parents) loved it. Breakfast was delicious to boot. Best French toast I have ever eaten.
Justin Trails was just simply wonderful. Wish we could have stayed for days.
I can't say enough good about Anette and her farm. She was the absolute best. She showed the kids the animals, and brought out a pony for them to ride. The kids had an absolute ball on the farm. They had more fun here than in the previous three days of our trip combined.
We chose to stay in the areas behind the horse stables so we could be near the bathrooms and water. Consequently we weren't in the most private place available on the farm. But we had a very authentic farm stay and we'd do it again next time we passed through Indiana.
Bath Hollow was a lovely stop on our cross country trip. We camped up on the hill, and it was such a beautiful spot to wake up. The camping area was well manicured, the bathrooms were clean, and we felt safe and very comfortable. While we didn't get a chance to meet Melissa & Brett due to our super late arrival, they were still in touch to make sure we had what we needed.
James and his crew at Apple Cove are so attentive, kind, helpful, and genuinely great. They will do everything possible to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. My group (consisting of three moms and five kids) felt incredibly safe and supported, in spite of our late-night arrival. They also joined us for breakfast in the morning, and James' kiddos kept our kids busy in the play area. Wish we could have explored a bit more.
The camping area was very well manicured, flat, and comfortable for camping. The apple trees along the drive in were a great welcome to the property. There were other areas of the property that will benefit from some additional work, but they didn't impact our experience at all.
You'll love your stay at Apple Cove. We'd love to stop by again next time we try a trip to Letchworth!
