We stayed at Calla Lily campsite for 2 nights over the New Year and really enjoyed it. The tent is spacious and warm, the cots are 2 bunkbeds with roll out pads included. We slept on top of the pads in our sleeping bags and it was very comfortable. There were plenty of people staying for the holiday but it felt private. Kids and dog could run around and not bother too many people. Everyone in the office went out of their way to get us anything we needed. The property is great, with plenty of hikes, close to the beach, and horseback riding. Great for getting out of the city for some fresh air.
Great place for families with kids and large groups. We arrived on a Saturday night with our 2 kids and 7 month old puppy. There was a big group of abalone divers that were cooking an incredible amount of abalone and they just told us to look for a spot we liked. We ended up on #10 in a grassy area with 10 sites around a circle. The only other occupied site was #1. A few of the sites had a shared bonfire pit but the other sites had their own fire pits. We chose #10 for the picnic table.
This was an easy place for us to camp and nice weather wise because its close to the beach but surrounded by trees so very pleasant. Our kids could roam around and we didn't feel like they were bothering anyone. The other campers were great neighbors and everyone was friendly. It seemed like they were updating the site even more than the reviews I read before we went. There was another hot shower, there wasn't too many porta potties, and plenty of firewood.
Overall, its a great place to use as a hub to see the wild beach, I would recommend driving.
Be careful of poison oak, especially with a dog.
Would go back with a big group of friends or family.
