Wow, the view alone is worth it. I camped here one night, overlooking the lake and town of Lake Elsinore. I felt like I was on top of the world as I slept with my car back up right to the edge of the hill with a view of the city and stars. I could have stared at that view the entire time! However, I did get out and explore the rest of the grounds and these sites are all very detail oriented and designed for a private stay. The waterfall hike only 2 miles away is also highly recommended. Overall, I'd def recommend camping here again, and bring friends!
I had quite a nice stay at SLO Country Camp, the hosts were very nice and had great recommendations for things to do nearby. I personally enjoyed the hammocks and outdoor shower! I really recommend this spot for its location nearby great hiking and views. The hosts will make you feel very welcome and the amenities can't be beat!
Camp Hecky is a square of land in front of Michael's home right off the 154 in the Santa Ynez mountains. I had a good overnight stay here with a picnic table and fire pit provided. I liked the location, though you will hear some road traffic it is relatively quiet with nice scenery and horses nearby. As listed on the description there is no bathroom and it was kind of difficult to find a spot to go but Michael says he will be putting one up soon as well as some shade which will make it even better!
I went for the Perseid Meteor Shower viewing. We got there early and claimed our tarp and then went for a swim in the reservoir which was really fun as it was pretty warm. We then ate dinner and waited for the show on the hill, Mendocino had a beautiful view of the sky, we even saw the Milky Way! The moon made an appearance around 1am but the meteor shower was still fun to watch. Make sure you pack light and bring bug spray. Overall, I'd def recommend this place and plan to do it again next year!
