Jim and Carol were very welcoming, as were their beautiful dogs. This is a special place with well spaced sites and amenities one wouldn't necessarily expect. The mattresses in the tent, along with the quilts and pillows, were great. The kitchen basket had a small sauce pan, a small frying pan, small cutting board, cooking utensils including tongs and knives, a fire clicker, salt/pepper and paper plates, paper cups, plastic cups, a kettle, plastic silverware and paper towels/kitchen towels. We didn't need to bring anything for cooking. Jim had stocked the firewood in advance, and provided lighter fluid. The chairs on the deck were super comfy and nice. Jim let us know about another property he has in the middle of the Carrizo Preservation - we went there and had an awesome picnic! Great stay and absolutely wonderful hosts.
This was a terrific property, with terrific hosts. Jeff and his dog Fred, were very welcoming. Fred and one of our dogs played most of the time and enjoyed romping around together. The wagon was cozy and the fenced in area made it easy to enjoy ourselves without having to constantly keep an eye on our dogs. We loved the fire pit, the comfortable chairs, the bed was very comfortable and the party barn was great. There's a pretty little pond on the property, and so much room to hike and walk. The chickens were curious and Jeff even received two new little piglets while we were there. The pictures of this place on hip camp don't do it justice. The wagon with stocked with a camp stove, fuel, plates, forks, knives, glasses, coffee mugs, frying pan, and a camp pot set. It was even stocked with a dishwashing bin, dish soap and matches. There was a charcoal grill, but we chose to cook on the fire. Our hosts provided firewood. There was a coffee pot, television, lamp, and very comfortable pillows. There were paper towels and grilling utensils. The outdoor shower was perfect, and the outhouse was clean and stocked with plenty of TP. There was no need to go over the hill to the Porta potty.l Jeff brought over fresh eggs to us on our first morning there. We had a really relaxing time here, I would definitely return again. We felt welcome and at home. The fan was perfect during the day, and the space heater and potbellied stove perfect for night time. Even though the wagon is close to Jeff's home, our space was very private and we were left to interact as much or as little as we wanted. Ang was very responsive, answering questions in advance, and even providing directions via text after we got lost. There's a hot tub, Jeff said we were welcome to use it, but we chose not to. What a great hip camp site.
