I can't even put into words how perfect the #4 campsite at Silver Fork Ranch is. Not only is there the best little babbling stream right there (seasonal apparently), a wonderful sound to fall asleep too, but it was farther away from the other campsite, making it feel like it was its own little world. It's closest to the log cabin where Rod lives, but he puts down shutters at night and it feels private. He's also a great guy, so didn't mind him being closer! We were there late May, and it was the perfect respite from the stress of a pandemic lifestyle. The grass was green and fresh, both shade and sunny areas, the 40 surrounding acres were fun to explore, the historic barns and outhouses were cool, and the amenities of 2 picnic tables, a great fire pit and hanging cook grate all made this a wonderful spot. We also ventured out to nearby Silver lake for some epic scenery, hiking, and sunbathing on large slabs of rock. Thank you Rod!!!
We absolutely loved our stay at River Ridge Ranch, not only because it has a beautiful and refreshing swimming hole just steps from the camp spots, but also because Gary and Barbara are such a pleasure to chat with, the ultimate hosts. They are passionate about the property, their mission, and making sure the guests are happy and well taken care of. We visited over July 4th weekend, and the temperatures were soaring, but it was easy to find shade and comfort in the river, communal areas, or a drive up into the mountains. Everything you need to create your meals is available in the outdoor kitchen. The bathrooms were extremely clean and the outdoor shower was heavenly. There is so much space to spread out, yet if you want to be social, you can mingle your fellow campers. Gary even hosted a BBQ on July 3rd and invited us all to eat and get to know each other over shucking corn! We will definitely return, and I want to try other seasons. Spring is supposed to be gorgeous!
