We were passing through Durango and requested to stay at Cabaña Ponderosa just 3 hours before arriving. Mark was extremely responsive and was able to host us on short notice! The property was secluded and surrounded by trees and mountains. After a few days on the road this was exactly what we needed! Mark made us some delicious coffee in the morning. I only wish we had more time to stay in the Durango area!
We had a group of 4 stay at Juniper camp. It was a cold night (20°F) but the cabin was toasty with the wood stove and smelled great :) My husband and I slept in a tent outside the cabin and we could hear owls and coyotes during the night. It was clear we were in a special place.
Staying at the dome was such an incredible experience. Candles, pillows, blankets, hand wipes, S.Pellegrino with two cups and chocolates on the pillows, Montrese had perfected every detail. The dome is super quiet from the inside, making it the perfect place to unplug from the rest of the world and recharge. Stay here!!!!
Carol was an amazing host! Our backpacking plans in Yosemite fell through and we were in the valley at 7pm with nowhere to stay that night. We managed to get a glimpse of wifi and found the tipi on Hipcamp. I booked and sent a message that we'd be getting in late and sorry for the late notice. Carol responded immediately and said that the tipi was set up for us!
She sent us personalized directions which actually worked out better than the Google map directions. We were very impressed with the roads the whole way. It was paved all the way up to the driveway of the property.
We arrived later than I would have liked (11pm) and Carol was there waiting for us. She gave us a tour, a lantern and made sure we had everything we needed for the night. Each of the 4 cots had sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and towels. Such luxury!
A great place to camp on your way to or from Yosemite. It felt very serene compared to the crowded campgrounds in the park. If you don't have four-wheel drive, I would recommend staying at #4 or #5 since we had a bit of trouble getting up the hill in a GTI. If you are looking for the best place to watch the sunset pick #1, it has the best view.
