This was by far one of the best places I have ever camped! The layout was magical, everything you will need to have a wonderful experience, from stove/sink area, picnic table, posts to hang up a hammock, outdoor bathroom, rock shower, star gazing cots, the works! We had a great time hiking and climbing around the property and enjoyed an epic sunset with star gazing at night! Truly a hidden campsite gem in San Diego.
What a magical experience it was to stay in wine country on this amazing property, it was something out of a fairy tale. Two nights was the perfect amount of time to explore everything they have created here. We tried to enjoy all of their many, private sitting areas, enjoyed sunrise and sunset at their view point especially watching the hot air balloons in the mornings. We loved the life size chess board and so appreciated Leticia leaving us bird houses to paint over breakfast! We also really appreciated them providing the fire and wood for us to enjoy at night. They are right down the street from dozens of wineries so we loved exploring some one of the days! This property is truly magnificent, we were blown away by the detail they have put into this project, I truly felt like Alice in Wonderland! Thank you both soooo much!
This camp site/ experience was pure magic! I don't really want to write this review actually because I feel like it's such a hidden gem that I want to keep all to myself! Ellen and Ken, the farm owners and operators are so knowledgeable about farming and producing sage essential oil and products, I picked their brains for a long time and even bought tons of sage for my business. Ken taught us how he distills his oils and Ellen showed us her impressive tie dye clothing/ art collection. Their property is expansive and there are SO many options for you to choose to camp, we chose to follow their thoughtfully placed tie dye marker path up their mountain and camp on the edge of their rocks so we could get a panoramic view of the stars. We enjoyed exploring around their mountains, star gazing, and smelling the organic sage in the wind. Other options to camp would be behind their house there are plenty of trails and other rocks to find a closer hidden spot, or even behind the horses/sage farm! Ellen gave us free range to choose where we wanted to explore and camp! It was fun to take pictures in the sage farm and pet the horses too! We will totally be back! Hit the candy cottage store on the main road on your way home!
This was a night out of a fairy tale! Everything in the green house makes you feel at complete ease and peace from all the flowers to the hidden inspirational signs. We decided to camp in our tent at the far left, and spent time in each of the little huts throughout our stay. I enjoyed the farm animals next to the green house and the epic Lion King esque views the most. Sitting in the chair swing, I looked left and saw horses graising on pasture through palm trees, like whoah! The llama, turkey, chickens and goats were my little buddies and added some extra smiles to our stay. The view is unparalleled and took both my fiancé and Is record of most beautiful camping area we've ever stayed at. The eggs available to us from the chickens also made the stay memorable. As a mini chef, the brick pizza oven and fire oven top made for incredible meals, especially freshly fried eggs in the morning.
Thanks so much Freg and Ginger for your hospitalility and letting us sleep on the bluff the second night, truly a magical experience. The train at 3am made for some funny mid dream memories! The most amazing views to look up to, we felt very blessed.
Sad to see the oil spill has affected the rocks below a bit on the beach but hopeful that farms like this continue to thrive and grow so we can take care of this earth! You would be silly not to make the time to check out this old orchid farm. Your stay supports their farm, nothing cooler!
