What a wonderful place to spend a few nights, we were incredibly lucky to find the Jacksons! The directions are clear and easy to follow, and Raquel was very communicative before or arrival. Sites have easy access to tasty and clean well water, so cooking and cleanup are a breeze. All four sites are nestled between trees, are shady, private and have plenty of space for a large 6 person tent plus a few chairs, it would be super easy to hang a tarp or two from the trees as well. The sites, driveway and the common area are wood chip surface, which means bring a tarp to protect the bottom of your tent but this is a great surface that has many advantages to keep the camp feeling well maintained and relatively bug free.. A spacious common area in the middle is where you can leave your car, has the porta pottie and trach./recycle bins, large tables for cooking and the best communal fire pit you could ever want. We were able to throw some meat and veggies on the fire the instant we arrived, as well as the next morning and evening, thanks to the hosts' wonderful 11-year-old son who took care to start the fire and get it ready for us. What a treat! He also recommended the best spots to explore beaches and creeks within a 10 minute drive, we could not have found these on our own. Nearby beaches were lovely and not nearly as crowded as the beaches in Sleeping Bear Dunes, although North Bar Lake is only 25 minutes away and worth the drive. The water is incredibly clean and the creeks are lovely to explore, this area is just off the beaten path, far enough away from the main attractions to have much less tourist traffic but still an easy drive away from many lakes, creeks and of course Lake Michigan beaches. Host family were gracious and checked in on us frequently without being intrusive. My partner appreciated the farm fresh eggs, kale and radishes from the garden, and I had a great time watching the chickens and pigs! Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, their rooster wakes up bright and early, but that's the full farm experience no?? Overall we had a great stay and can highly recommend the camp!
