We camped here June 19th 2020 and we really loved. The location is beautiful, lots of trees and mountain scenery and our camping spot was overlooking the large green meadow which had about 40 horses roaming around. There is so much land that you really feel like you are there by yourself. The campground is just getting set up for camping, you might not have water close to your spot or a toilet either, both were a short walk for us. Bring your own firewood, they don't have any to sell you. Make sure you get the driving directions before you head there. There was a delay for us getting the directions and we ended up following our GPS and this was a mistake. Overall we loved the location and we really enjoy our camping trip. We'll be coming back.
After reading all the great reviews about this hipcamp we had to try it out and our group all agreed, it's a great place to camp. Our favorite thing was the large covered shelter which made it really nice for our group to be together, cooking, eating, playing games, telling stories and just hanging out. The site is really nice, it's nestled in around several rock formations which makes the feeling very private. Everyone enjoyed climbing the rocks and boulders and looking out at the great views, especially sunset. The designated areas to pitch tents are good, the ground is cleared and flat. The included things like a porta potty, water, outdoor kitchen, picnic tables and the sun shelter make this spot worth the cost of the booking. We all thought it was a great place and we'll be back again.
The camp hosts Doreen and Jesse are really nice people. When we arrived they showed us where the camping area was and gave us some basic info and pretty much left us to ourselves. We found the camping area to be fine for our group, we had a couple of trailers and a couple of tents. The space was big enough for us to have a large common area where we could line up our tables to enjoy large meals together and sit around a camp fire. The children in our group enjoyed exploring and playing in our camping area and some of the other surrounding areas of the property. The hosts do offer activities (archery, petting zoo, candle making + more) which is available to the public so you will see foot traffic but it didn't bother us at all (plus we were informed ahead of time). The camping area has a nearby porta-potty and outside sink for use. People with RV's or trailers who need to connect to electrical should contact the hosts ahead of time to ask about status. For our group the electrical wasn't able to handle the load from the trailers, not a big deal, one of us used a generator. Our group enjoyed our camping trip and spending time together.
Camped at Sandy Flats July 2018, campsites are very close together, not too many flats spots for tents, access to the river was not good, only two places and due to the campground being full it was very crowded at these two places, not much shade (tress), not easy to navigate for long trailers.
