Counting Sheep
in Weathered Hill Farm, New YorkSarah and Jason were excellent hosts. My 4&7 yo enjoyed collecting chicken and duck eggs, exploring, and helping groom the horses. The view from the spot behind the barn was excellent. It was in a double grade, which made sleeping uncomfortable and the rooster crowed all night. I think there were other spot options, but Jason and Sarah were at the farmers market when we arrived and this was the only clear spot to set up in. We would’ve preferred to be in or closer the woods, which may be an option. We ultimately left after 1 night because of the torrential downpours for the day.
Mustang Valley Ranch
in Mustang Valley, New YorkRestful weekend
Mary was a great host. I stayed in the woods sites. There are 3 and they are all platforms that are about 10X10, which was a little small for my tent. You have to haul all of your stuff up a pretty steep scramble to get to the platforms. The creekside sites looked really nice and flat, even a little sandy, but minimal shade and directly on the ground. She had wonderful fire pits and access to the stream was very reasonable. Mary does not allow you to drive your car to your site, but did bring my stuff in the cart and helped schlep it up the scramble (thank you!). The property is very quiet even with other campers near by and very peaceful. The horses are magnificent and the whole area is stunning. I took some wonderful star and flower photos.
Dreamweaver Pond
in Dreamweaver Pond, New YorkJo was great and her space was very comfortable. There is water there the pond has water moccasins and snapping turtles, so no swimming. Also, it is very close to the highway and easy access to town if you need something; I could easily hear trucks and traffic. The two sites are well separated and private. Overall I had a very relaxing time reading and wondering around her property, including a very exciting visit by a humming bird!
