I have owned this ranch since 1994 and raised my 4 kids here. They are all grown with their own families and no longer have time or interest in spending at the ranch. I have 15 grandkids who I can drag out on occasion to come fish and ride the 4 wheeler and minibike. I have offered access to friends and family but no one seems to be interested in driving out of town. So, I have decided to offer access to those who have similar interests. I am retired after 37 years working as a soil scientist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. I traveled the country mapping soils and spent my last 13 years commuting to my office in Lincoln Nebraska, hence the reason to retire to the ranch. I enjoy traveling, my cattle, fishing, hiking, camping, and my KLR 650 motorcycle. Its pretty lonely being on the ranch so if I talk too much, just tell me you need to get back to work and I'll leave ;-). I do enjoy talking to people and make it an effort to meet new friends when I go camping.
Salina, Kansas Salina is 16 miles to the east and south of the ranch. I have a house on the ranch and one in town. I live between the two depending on what is going on in my life. Four miles east of me is the Rolling Hills Zoo. It is a really nice zoo. Other features is the Smoky Hill Museum and some nice restaurants in downtown Salina.
