We brought our two dogs and cat and had a great time. Charles has 30 acres on land near the Colorado National Monument. There are a few mini goats, a gardening area, and lots of open and secluded land. We saw so may stars, and even ended up encountering a coyote and deer over our one night stay. There are some trails through the land that are good for ATVs or mountain biking, and the surrounding area has tons more.
The campsite was perfect. Charles set up a big tent with two cots and a tent outhouse/solar shower. There was also a fire pit, a picnic table, a grill with a bag of charcoal and two reclining camping chairs for our use. Charles also thoughtfully added pavers throughout the campsite so you can walk around without getting super sandy.
Things to note:
-The campsite itself was up a dirt trail that requires a AWD vehicle with ground clearance. Our car did not fill the bill, but Charles was happy to bring us and our things up and down.
-We had our dogs off leash in the day time, but you will need to be careful because of the coyotes. You will hear them calling at night.
- There are little cacti that grow around the area. They can be hard to see, and me/my dogs definitely stepped on a few! They're not dangerous, just a little prickly, but be sure to sturdy shoes if you're sensitive.
- You'll be able to hear some road sounds because there's a single road in the distance.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and would 100% go back! Charles was a kind and helpful host, and I recommend this place to anyone.
We had an amazing time! Kathy and Tim greeted us with their friendly dogs and a fresh dozen eggs. The campsite was clean, well-maintained, and very private. We had plenty of firewood, a fire pit with a poker and a grill surface, a picnic table with a fresh pinned table cloth, a lined trash bin, and disinfectant. The setting was incredibly beautiful, and we felt safe and comfortable letting our dogs run around with their new friends. Even better, Tim let us accompany him to feed their chickens, alpacas, ducks, goats, pigs, and turkey... We were allowed to pet them and go say hello any time. This was definitely our camping experience by far and hope to return!
We were a party of 3 + 2 dogs and had an awesome time at site 1. There was a fire pit and picnic table in the clearing, plus a few ponds for swimming nearby. Site 1 is the closest to the farm and parking area, and site 2 is a bit further down--far enough for total privacy but close enough that you might hear your neighbors laughing. You'll also be able to see fellow campers walking in the distance as they go to/from their campsites, but again you'll still have total privacy.
Host Thomas was great and provided plenty of firewood, and we all loved our stay at his farm.
We had a great time, except for the TONS of mosquitos! The location was great, the porta-potty was very clean, there was a convenient hose/shower area, and an extension cord. Internet is available but weak unless you go near the host's home. Nancy was very helpful and responsive.
