We stayed here to have seclusion and we had the forest to ourselves. We chose to tent camp on the dirt driveway among the trees. It was the flattest spot with shade and our car was next to us. Nina provided us with lots of water we used for washing and drinking. She also brought a table and chairs. Most of our time was visiting the lava caves and Shasta, so we drove extra to get back to the highway. It's about 50 mins to the I-5 so plan accordingly. We had all the water, coffee, supplies, groceries, restrooms we needed in Weed and Mt. Shasta so we didn't miss/need them when camping. This place is ideal if you want to be away from other campers or tourists or will be exploring areas off the main highway. Be prepared to be self sufficient as this is primitive camping. We had no AT&T cell service and didn't use wifi. We washed up each evening from a bucket of water, though there are showers in Etna, 8 miles away. The road is quiet after dark and we woke to the birds singing each morning. Quail, nighthawks, blackbirds, robins, frogs and more were singing and calling at dusk and dawn. Temps were pleasant for our stay in June. 50's overnight and 70's in the evenings when we returned. It's not for every one, but you'll enjoy it if this is your kind of camping.
