My family absolutely LOVED our time at Needles Outpost. What a cool spot to camp! Easily the most interesting camping experience we’ve had to date.
We camped in the group camp site and it was so spacious and private. There are tons of trees that not only add shelter, shade, and a place to hang hammocks, but tons of charm and character! We were RIGHT next to beautiful red rock formations that look like a set from Star Wars. We could easily climb the rocks to get a better view of the gorgeous horizon and sunsets as well as stargaze.
Every night, the campsite was peaceful and quiet. The bathhouse was close by and the showers were warm (they were a little short due to the fact that they have to bring in their own water, so conservation is important). However, we were able to pause the shower while we soaped up and felt we had plenty of time to wash. Of course, you could always just buy more tokens form the store to increase the length of time.
When we checked in, we met Amber and Caleb (and their adorable kitties) at the store. Amber was very friendly and welcoming. We were pleased to see they have stocked plenty of food, toiletry, and camping items.
One night when my cousin wasn’t feeling well, Amber ran into us after hours outside of the store and opened it up just to give us ice and a special hydration drink for my cousin. She even let us use her phone when we were struggling to make a call over WiFi. She was extremely kind!
We were glad there was WiFi since we were out in the middle of nowhere. It’s not the best signal, but that’s to be expected when you’re in the middle of nowhere. Some of us were able to get signal on top of the rocks, however.
The beauty of this site is that it’s affordable and in one of the most picturesque spots in the country! It’s a little ways from Moab (1.5 hours) but worth the drive. It’s amazing how close we were to the Canyonlands Needles entrance. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were. We will definitely return back to Needles Outpost in the future!
