Dale was an incredible host! Not only did he give great directions ahead of time, he helped us find our campsite when we arrived and supplied us with what we needed to make a cozy campfire. He was also gracious enough to let us borrow a couple chairs since we forgot to pack some! It was wonderful having a flushing toilet and hot water for a shower. (Things we definitely take for granted, but thoroughly appreciate while on the road.) If we’re ever back out this way, we’d definitely stay again!
Definitely an off the grid place so be sure to have your directions written down just in case. Very quiet area that may be shared with other campers if you’re up for it. A good place for a quick an overnight trip.
This space was so perfect after a long day of being at Yellowstone. The ground was even, the was atmosphere super serene, and the views were truly a sight to behold! Even though it’s a bit off the main interstate, I highly recommend staying at Camp Chicory. It is definitely “primitive” camping, but there’s a convenient port a potty close by. Also, Sheila is a gem—we didn’t get to meet her in person because we got in so late, but she was a great communicator, which made our stay even more wonderful!
