We had a wonderful weekend in Anna-Thea's amazing yurt! It was super comfy, quiet, and beautiful. It's 35-40min to a few amazing Yuba River swimming spots. A few extra perks we found upon arrival: Plenty of electrical hookups in the yurt for chargers or air mattress pumps. A big powerful fan to blow in cool air at night. A king size mattress AND a futon bed are in the yurt, so there's really no need to bring pads (DO bring a sleeping bag to sleep on top of either one). There are some cooking pots and pans and a hot plate available also. The toilet is a compost toilet - a 5gal bucket that you shovel sawdust into after you've done your duty. So make sure your group is prepared for that - didn't bother us, but it might bother some squeamish folks.
Anna-Thea greeted us warmly and gave us some excellent recommendations. Overall, it was just a wonderful weekend and when we come back to the Yuba River, I don't see why we'd stay anywhere else. Can't give it much more of a recommendation than that! :)
We had a wonderful 2-night experience here! Cheryl was so kind and welcoming and graciously met us on the main road and helped us find the location. Once we were there, we had complete privacy. The only negative is that road noise from Hwy 29 can be a bit loud at night, so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise. This little camping compound is charming, thoughtful, well laid out, and has all the amenities you would want for a few nights of desert peace. We loved the outdoor sink and shower under the water tower! We also cooked a great meal of roasted veggies and sausages in the fire pit - there's a cooking grate included, and that puppy gets HOT! Amazing to cook on! There's too many creative little details on the property to talk about, but suffice to say that it's inspiring to be there and see what such a creative couple have made, and I hope to go back in the future and see how it continues to develop!
We stayed one night on Robert's property and had a lovely time! Robert was so accommodating and sweet. Upon arrival, he gave us a tour of the grounds and educated us about the types of trees on the property. He has a real passion for the land and wants to impart this passion and knowledge to others - it was a fantastic way to start our weekend. The campsite was beautiful. Be sure to bring plenty of water for drinking and washing up, and plenty of bug spray - there were plenty of mosquitos around dusk. We will be back! Thank you Robert!
