Intro: I'm Marie Vanderpool. I'm an adventure elopement photographer who travels and lives full-time in a Ram ProMaster 2500 with my husband and our pug, Ollie. We park our van and have most of our work in Washington, but travel worldwide.
Our stay at the Treehouse was magical. From the small and cozy home to the bed resting in the tops of trees, illuminated with twinkle lights- an absolutely incredible experience. The host, Joe, was so attentive to ensuring all guests have a superb experience. I highly recommend staying at this magical abode.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Fir Grove. It's a perfect place if you're wanting to experience something different than your average campsite. There's a friendly horse on the property as well, who let us say hello! It's a super quiet location and the porta-potty on site was INCREDIBLY clean. There's a perfect spot behind the barn and through a gate, where you can set up a tent among tall trees that'll provide a bit of shade and Shannon also has a firepit that can be used if no burn bans are in effect. Aside from that, Shannon also has a perfect spot for an RV/Van, if you have one, right behind the main house and in front of the barn. Shannon was incredibly communicative and she gave us the code to the gate to get in/out during our stay, which was incredibly easy to use! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique/private camping experience!
My husband and I travel and live full-time on the road and this was truly an interesting experience for us. It was neat to be right across the street from a small airport. This was a quiet spot for us to relax and it was on a road that sees very little traffic. Richard's property is big and gorgeous, the camping spot is in front of the land, close to the plane hanger, and right in front of the road. It's a great spot if you're looking for a last minute and quiet spot to camp out on or maybe if you're a huge fan of planes- you can witness a few smaller planes take off and land. Even so close to the airport, we did not hear much noise when night time came around. Not a busy airport by any means, so not a lot of noise during the day either. Our pug, Ollie loved that he was allowed on leash- he had a lot of fun sniffing playing and sniffing the bushes.
Sanctuary Woods is a perfect location if you're looking for a spot secluded in the woods for a nice quiet evening. The tent camping is tucked away beside the house, where it can easily accommodate smaller tents (2-4 persons) and even though the main house is footsteps away, you feel secluded and in a private space with trees and the brush. Be careful while walking around in the beautiful woods beside Kate's place- we noticed a bit of poison ivy you might want to watch for and avoid walking around with sandals/open shoes. We did not see this in the campsites, but near the woods. The RV space on Kate's land can easily accommodate a larger sized RV as well- our van being 16 feet long and we probably could've parked another right behind us. Kate, the owner was lovely- she recommended an event at the local library, as she knew I was a photographer. In addition, she was incredibly welcoming and kind upon arrival. The spot Kate recommends down the road is a great place to spend some time if you're looking for a picnic table to play some cards or eat dinner. There is no bathroom on-site, but Kate mentioned getting one for her HipCampers soon. If you arrive before then, the nearest bathroom is a 5 min walk to the picnic area, where a porta-potty was located. My husband and I slept so well as it was so quiet- all you heard were frogs croaking in the night- no road noise- just the noises of nature.
