The experience at Los Alamos Ranch was AMAZING. We originally planned on camping there, but ended up booking La Casita instead for two nights during the Labor Day weekend. My significant other and our two doggos traveled from San Antonio for the Marfa City Lights Festival and explore nearby parks. Estela was the best host we’ve ever had and we travel A LOT. The hosts’ are extremely pet friendly and accommodating. Starting with our travel to Los Alamos Ranch, we were a little worried about the gravel road drive you have to take to get to the ranch for the last few miles, but we had plenty of gas from Marfa and our spare tire at the ready in case we got a flat. But thankfully, we shouldn’t have even worried. I drive a Kia Soul with thin ‘city’ tires and it was absolutely fine for the drive, we just drove carefully and slowly on the gravel road. We pulled into the ranch and our wonderful host (plus the wonderful resident doggos) were there to meet us a with a cute welcome bag. She walked us to La Casita and we instantly knew we made the right choice for our trip. It’s the perfect size for two adults and our two doggos. La Casita is right around the corner and down the small incline from the hosts’ house and the guesthouse where the showers are. La Casita has a screened porch area, outdoor lights and tub and private room with A/C and a queen bed. The amenities in the room include a mini fridge, full length mirror hanging on the door, coffee maker, lanterns and lighter, small shelf and table. It’s so cute and comfortable. You can tell the hosts’ spent a lot of time making sure we could want for nothing while we’re in the room. The screened porch has a picnic table and bench along with lanterns and cute décor. The guesthouse is a short walk from La Casita and has towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash (with cute little loofas) for guests’ use. There’s also an outdoor kitchen with ice maker, grills and tables. THE VIEW of the property is breathtaking during sunset, sunrise and any time in between. Big Bend Ranch State Park is a few miles away, pretty much your backyard for the time you’re staying at the ranch. The sky at night is beautiful! I saw the Milky Way without a telescope for the first time in my life, along with some shooting stars! We went to Marfa during the day (which is an awesome little town nearby) and we’d planned on going to the state park too, but we ran out of time! Our hosts’ were so helpful and kind, making sure we had everything we needed and more. Estela was very quick to reply to any questions we had and communicated clearly about everything. We really enjoyed our stay at Los Alamos Ranch and plan to come back when we’re traveling around the area. I would whole heartedly recommend taking a trip out there to get away from the buzz of work and city sounds, we left relaxed and feeling at peace with our time spent in West Texas.
