The Needles Outpost is high on my special places list. The hosts were welcoming and helpful, patiently responding to all kinds of guest requests while greeting curious drop-ins. The place offers a comfortable and casual vibe, sites spread out, a couple of tipis, families scrambling above on the red rocks wrapped around the campground (perfect for sunset viewing). The basic fee is reasonable and most extras are available for small fees: wifi, hot showers, firewood. Gas is pricey so fill up first. No phone service (AT&T). Loved the hummingbird-games on the porch. Location is perfect for Canyonlands exploration. The hail storm was a bonus (and rare, I assume). Thanks Amber!
Debra and Dave have a little fantasy farm going on: metalwork garage, gated 4 acres, lovingly designed raised beds, views in every direction, lots of hike options, birds and friendly dog to wake you up, laundry and full hookup. I was able to explore, work (two bars on AT&T plus occasional access to a local network), and drop in on D&D to see what they were up to as they puttered about. Their love for live and their land were inspiring. Highly recommend.
My first night out with my 14' trailer, arrived in the dark and the pouring rain. Mark was there, outside, in a raincoat, and stayed until we were settled in - many very wet minutes. We left early, in the rain - that wasn't Mark's fault! Would love to see the view on a nice day.
