We had an AMAZING stay here! Dan greeted us at the front and showed us around, and offered us a welcome beverage! The hospitality and friendliness was extremely appreciated, and I will be recommending this listing to everyone I know who plans to visit Crested Butte. The dog friendly campgrounds was also a huge plus! If it's up and running, I also highly recommend the Japanese soaking tub - I'll never forget how calming it was, and the cedar smell was so dreamy.
LOVED staying at Shady Brook! I was road tripping from Colorado to Illinois, and this was the perfect stop off 80 to spend the night. Brenda was so helpful in explaining the site layout, and was so wonderfully friendly. Everything is well established and well maintained. I stayed at Site 3, in my tent with my dog, and watched the lightning bugs glow around the woods surrounding me. There’s even a POOL I didn’t get a chance to swim in! Definitely bringing my swim suit next time :)
Kat and Tim were lovely hosts! We arrived to clearly marked HIPCAMP signs leading us down the path to the parking spots and message board. The amenities here are sweet. They've built a sink with two faucets sourcing water from the well, which is totally drinkable. A shower with hot water is also available, as well as a nice pit toilet bathroom with a view (SEE: photos!). There are 6 wonderful campsites to choose from, and I promise they will not disappoint!
Sam & Marcy were more than wonderful hosts during our stay at Redwoods by the Sea. We unexpectedly arrived later than expected, and they stayed up just to greet us and direct us to the camp site in the dark. Their property is GORGEOUS! The towering redwoods surrounding the site makes it feel secluded and calming, while they amenities offered here (a lovely outhouse near the site, a beautiful deck next to a fireplace with camping chairs, and lovely hand carved works by Sam himself) make this a unique, not-to-miss place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend spending time here!
Super unique spot! Pete is a wonderful host. His two small dogs are a joy to be around. This property has a lot to look at and enjoy. There's beautiful foliage around the camping spot in the front (and back, if you choose!) to the collection of sculptures and mirrors within the yard, this place is definitely unique. Don't miss the tire swing on the tree on the hill behind the property's gate! I would recommend staying here in a heart beat.
I would recommend staying here for both the wonderful open sky experience and the privacy. I wasn’t bothered by anyone, and this was a great stopping point before driving to Owens Valley. Just over an hour from the Alabama Hills and great views of Mt Whitney! The dirt roads on this property were easy to navigate, and the grounds weren’t hard to set up a tent onto. The sunrises and sunsets here are great as well!
