Where to even begin! Should I start with how hospitable Don's is? or how amazing his camper van is? What about the fully stocked arcade and salt water pool? It all makes for the experience!
I pulled into the driveway, also suitable for an RV as it has full hookup, to be greeted by the welcoming host, Don. After chatting for a bit he gave me a full tour of the property. There are several comfortable beds to sleep in- from the tiny house to the camper van, depending which is available during your stay. There will also be a deck platform that Don intends to suit up for pitching a tent.
The tiny house was stocked with everything a guest would need to feel at home- from the full bathroom to the comfortable bed and even to the little things- like a basket of snacks and a full fridge! There is a big deck that has plenty of space to hang alone, or sit at the bar top around the tree with friends.
The camper van is fully equipped with swivel seats, a mini kitchen, a toilet, sleeping bags, flat screen tv, and a double sized bed. Perfect for kids if the parents are in the tiny house!
Now let's get to the fun stuff-
In the center of the backyard is a salt water pool with as many floats as you could wish for! Keep walking past the pool into into what looks like a regular part of the house, but low and behold....its a fully stocked arcade, and I mean fully. stocked. Don gives his guests 24/7 access and who wouldn't want to be playing air hockey or pinball all night long?
All in all, I could not recommend staying at Don's hipcamp enough. Although not your typical "nature" camp vibes, this space is designed for someone who wants to relax in comfort and be a kid again!
Pristine Pines is the perfect name for a campsite like this. After turning down the gravel road and heading past the host's house, I easily found the campsite tucked back into the pines on their property. There is a cleared out space for you to park your car (and even "parking sign" to help) which is conveniently just a few steps from camp. The campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, tons of fire wood, and plenty of space to pitch your tent. I chose to face my tent towards the road because you get a glimpse of the farm and animals hanging in the distance.
But it would be just as easy to face back towards the pines and feel completely secluded.
Pristine Pines was peaceful and quiet. It was so nice to lay in my tent, completely tucked into the pines after being on the road for a while. I whipped up some dinner on my camp stove, read my book, and just enjoyed being away from life's hustle.
The site was not too far off of Route 40. So if you're looking for a spot to crash while on a long drive, it doesn't get much better then this!
Where to even begin! My stay at Mojave Stars Camp was peace and bliss. Located just outside of Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree, this desert spot was prime to set up camp. Laura gave very easy directions before arrival which took me directly around the 29 Palms restaurant to a wide open area suitable for several lots. Each spot had their own picnic table with overhead roofing while the refreshing outdoor shower and restroom are communal. This spot was nice after a long trip of traveling as I got the entire place to myself with a 360 view of desert and mountains, no complaining there!
The Desert Farm Casita is such a unique way to experience a night in New Mexico.
As we pulled up to the pink, adobe house we instantly were greeted by the hosts' friendly farm animals. Soon after, Samantha and her husband Kyle, got home from work and could not have been any more welcoming and helpful.
The casita, a separate 1-room guest house, is cozy and perfect for a few night's stay. Inside is a queen bed, clean bathroom, wood stove, and plenty of brochures to get familiar with the surrounding areas. There is also more than enough room on the property to set up tents. Samantha and Kyle provide plenty of firewood to have a fire inside on the casita's wood stove or on the outside fire ring.
The following morning Kyle was nice enough to introduce us to the animals, let us feed them, and give us a rundown of their land. From the 360 degree view of surrounding mountains to the genuine hosts, I could not recommend staying a night at the Desert Farm Casita enough!
