The Black Mesa Winery offers an excellent shop and tasting room as well as quiet lawn area with picnic table to enjoy the many hummingbirds and birds that come to all of the feeders Jerry tends. We bought both the Albariño and the Chardonnay. Albariño was my favorite! (outside alcohol unless it’s in a coffee cup!)
The actual vineyards were lush green (June) and well marked for each varietal. There is a great little walk around the vineyard and home carefully highlighting petroglyphs on the property. A labyrinth and bench offers further seclusion or meditation time.
Jerry could not have been more helpful or welcoming. His story of the vineyard is heartwarming and they will get through Covid, and their new Cider will be the hottest new beverage.
Note that parking is on the lot on the road. It can be quite dusty and there is road noise. Spend your time on the grassy, quiet compound before heading to bed!
