This is a simple campsite but nice and private with access to water on site. Most of the property is on a hill but there are a few flat spots to set up tents. The view can really only be seen from the fire pit up by the house but the camping area down below provides for a very secluded feel.
Vickie was such an incredible host! The property & trailer are lovely as well. After crossing over their driveway (which is a bridge over a river) it feels like you've driven miles into the countryside. It was so fun to hear about the history of this property.
The trailer is set in the back off to the side of the house, very secluded with it's own deck attached and fire pit to the side. Not only did Vickie bring me a s'more's kit - I had coffee and goodies from the local farmers market waiting for me when I woke up.
It was such a great experience - this is a must stop for anyone passing through or visiting wine country!
The homestead is a nice and convenient property. It's located right off of highway 12 and very easy to find. The property is a large plot of land with rolling hills in the background.
Debra and family have set up a beautiful outdoor kitchen space for use by campers. I made breakfast there but they even provide some continental breakfast type of supplies. Other conveniences of the property include wifi, if you're trying to squeeze in an afternoon work session.
The camping area is either in the front yard or back yard behind the house. The front is where I set up my tent - shaded and breeze area but also close to the road and house so you're not very secluded.
Between gardening and running a fruit stand/shop out front there always seems to be something going on at the homestead - lots of family around!
Fisherman's Paradise is a great location for those who are wanting to fish the nearby river or explore yellowstone. It's more of a site for tent camping as there are no current roads to drive further back on the property.
We had a great time at Moonshadow Ranch! The campsite was on our way from Portland to Yellowstone - this was a great stop after decent day of driving. Upon arrival our host Tony greeted us and showed us out to the campsite. The river was running which made the experience extra special. We made dinner over a campfire and enjoyed eating on the picnic table at the campsite. Although the moon was almost full, we still got to take in a few stars at night. In the morning Tony even offered us eggs from his daughter's chickens! I would definitely visit this spot again and am already thinking about a possible second trip for the eclipse!
