This was our fourth Hipcamp experience and once again we were very happy with the host and the site. The yurt was adorable and private. The entrance faces away from the house which is a short walk up the lane. The deck was sizable with a nice table and chairs and then rocking chairs on the other side where we set up our campfire. The yurt was spotless and the microwave and fridge were in great working order. The bathroom is located in the house and has a lock, you will be sharing that bathroom with tent campers who maybe at the site as well. The tent campers are quite a way from the yurt and the host appears to limit the sites to three so I think she accounts for the bathroom use in her numbers. It is a very clean space and comfortable. By the way the host is amazing. Coffee and muffins every morning and she has a laid back and super friendly personality. Overall I would definitely stay again. A couple of things to note. Ladies there is no mirror in the yurt and since the bathroom is shared I brought a little travel mirror (there is electricity and lights in the yurt). There is no water source at the yurt, we always bring a fire extinguisher and a gallon of water with hand wipes, so it wasn’t an issue for us, but to wash your hands etc you would need to go to the house. Honestly the walk is very quick (bring a flashlight for the night potty break) again we would definitely stay again.
This was my first time using Hipcamp and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The location was incredible, close enough to amenities like restaurants, a drive in and a Walmart (just in case you forgot something), but far enough away that you felt like you had gotten away from the hustle and bustle of everything. Close to Morrow Mountain, lakes and Uwharrie National Forest, it was a great base station for exploring the area. The actual site was great as well. Fantastic for both new and experienced campers. You had the option of cooking over a campsite or a full kitchen (with a fridge!!) or both so depending on the weather and your preference. The shower and toilets are in a covered area in the barn. The shower was sizable and had hot and cold water. I felt safe and the grounds were very well maintained. There is a large meadow and a great wooded area the leads to a natural spring perfect for exploring and testing out your gear before taking on the surrounding park trails. The cell signal was great so if you needed to stay in touch you could and electrical outlets were available to charge devices etc. The host was extremely accommodating, he grew up on the property and knew all about the site and the surrounding areas. There are two sweet dogs on the property who are very friendly and we saw a couple of deer during our stay. All in all this is a perfect getaway especially for a last minute getaway and we definitely plan on booking this site again. I would recommend for families, couples and even small groups (ie a set of couples or families).
