The lake was beautiful and being on the corner gave us some extra space for our dog to run around. However, the space was not private at all. There were many other people using the dock during our stay. Also, the cabin, was really just a shed with an AC unit and a bed. There were no personal touches, no amenities, and there was no bathroom. The only bathroom was far and we had to pay to use it.
Overall we had a wonderful time, but we were hoping for more privacy than we got.
Upon booking, I was immediately told that the cabin I booked was unavailable and they were going to “upgrade” me to a better cabin free of charge. After seeing photos of the new cabin, it was not at all my style or the kind of environment I wanted to be in. I told them this, and asked for a refund. They refused to give me a refund, and found a way to give me the cabin that I had originally booked. (Weird).
Then my first night in the cabin, a few minutes after arriving, I saw mice in the cabin. This didn’t freak me out too much, until I woke up in the morning and in the light of day saw mouse poop in my sheets!!! Yes, that means I slept in mouse poop all night, which is a serious health hazard.
After seeing the mouse poop in my bed I took a closer look around the cabin and saw mouse poop EVERYWHERE! There was poop on the towel I had used after my shower, and even in the silverware drawer I had used the night before. (BARF!)
I told the hosts about the mice and the poop.
Their response was to apologize, make me breakfast (which truthfully was delicious) and to move me to the ugly cabin that I specifically told them I DID NOT want from the very beginning.
Since I had already driven across the state of Texas to get there I didn't argue and just accepted the cabin.
The only reason they are getting two stars instead of one is because the property is extremely beautiful and I did get to go for a very fun and peaceful ($55) horse back ride.
Other than that, I regret the experience and will forever check the sheets before I get into a bed for the rest of my life.
This Yurt, and the hosts were a super fantastic way to start off our Hawaii adventure. We had such a great time, the property was one of our favorite places on the island and the view from the yurt is great. They also gave a basket of fresh fruit picked from the property that was beyond delicious. We were very impressed with the space. The only thing that was not an A+ from us, was that we really wish we were warned that the hosts were nudists prior to our arrival... Nudists are not something we had ever experienced before and it was quite honestly scary when a naked man approached our car at the arrival. We ended up having a phenomenal time with the hosts and grew accustomed to the nudity quickly, but wish we had known ahead of time. Other than that, it was honestly the best way we could have started our Hawaii adventure.
Wonderful spot!!!! They literally had everything we could have needed in the spot except a fridge full of food. Amazing spot that's even better than the photos. A little close to the road but still great. The only suggestion I have: they have a book that has details of everything, except how to use the castiron heater/stove. We had some trouble using it. It would have been nice if instructions on that were included in the book. All in all, we will absolutely return to this spot in the future.
No problems at all. This place was even better than we imagined in the photos. So wonderful. We traveled all across the country and stayed at many hipcamp spots. This one was by far my favorite. Would love to come back to it some day.
Really great spot. The only thing you really need to bring is sheets/pillows and food. Everything else is provided, including water. Watching the sunset from the bed spot was breathtaking. And we could watch the stars from the bed, but it started to rain so we used the covered bunk room. Over all great experience
