We have been visiting all over New England and only intended to stay one night. Joan was so friendly and accommodating and we had some of her grass fed beef and we knew we had to stay longer.
To say that the area is picturesque is an understatement! The weather was beautiful and we slept so well since we were the only ones at the farm.
At first we were all reluctant about the compostable toilet but it is really no big deal. As my ten year old daughter and I approached the shed (it is an old ice fishing hut) she asked what a composing toilet was and for the rest of the trip we all felt like we should create some songs in there.
Wildfire the cat was a fantastic groundskeeper and stopped to visit us long enough for some good petting sessions.
Joan recommended White’s Beach down the road and we took a picnic and played in the lake until it was dark. Our family all feel asleep listening to the crickets and said how glad we were to stay an extra day.
We arrived at around 10 PM felt bad for keeping our host up waiting for us. He was so kind and accommodating. He had an extension cord that was super long for us to plug our pop-up camper into and he recommended we take the five minute walk to the private beach and it was priceless. Lots of driftwood to gather and we made a roaring fire right as the sun lit up the sky. Then the Milky Way lit up and our family of four all had giant smiles on our faces. If you lake access this is the spot!
