It's a pretty secluded spot, the entrance is thrilling, especially if you have an off-roading vehicle. we were well shaded and definitely enjoyed our time there building a fire and cooking dinner over open flame. We had some chicken neighbors who were very cute and passed through our site a few times until our puppy Charlie got curious and tried to play with them. Michael was extremely nice and accommodating. It's a classic campfire experience.
Frank's property is a gorgeous spot surrounded by dense old woodlands. He set us up with a map of the property and some helpful information - very thoughtful and personalized. We camped on the windy brook site, easy to find and very private despite being closer to the house/farm than the other sites. The brook surrounds the site, the sound of moving water was such a lovely touch. It's very well shaded by a dense canopy, we chose the hottest weekend of the summer so far yet sleeping temp was really pleasant and we didn't wake up baking in our tent. Also, we heard owls both nights - believe they were great horned owls.
Frank's sausages, eggs and minced meat are such a perk - we highly recommend you take advantage and enjoy these treats on the land they're produced :)
Royalston falls has fun trails nearby, although be sure to map out the route ahead of time, especially since service is spotty/nonexistent - don't assume the trails are a loop. Our puppy, Charlie, LOVED the hike.
All three of us had a great time, Charlie wanted us to leave him behind. Highly recommend this spot.
Greenbush farm is a gorgeous property, a really wonderful escape from the city (only 2.5 hr drive from Boston). We had a really great time hanging by the fire and exploring the area. Two great horned owls swooped down on our campsite the first night! A lot of fun birds to watch and listen to - bring binoculars! The walk along the river is really special, our puppy was so excited to explore all the new sights and smells. Pete was great, swung by to say hi and give us a few suggestions to check out close by. We went to the watering hole on Tyson road, I highly recommend it. It's stunning and a real treat to dip in cool clear blue water. We've earmarked this spot and would definitely come back again.
