Fern Ridge is an amazing place, a retreat for all. We got to stay in the amazing little camper they have restored, enjoyed the hot tub, hot outdoor showers, and an incredible meal made by our host. It was well worth asking to add to your stay... incredibly good and farm fresh! In the process of creating an incredible event space/ retreat, our hosts were talented and extremely helpful and welcoming! It's an amazing spot for fisherman, with fly-fishing only locations within walking distance, and smack in the middle of the lakes region of Maine. Truly, a gem among gems! Looking forward to heading back here with a bigger group!
There are few places quite as incredible as this! Staying on a private island was a real treat, and with the many accommodations provided by our host, we did so in complete comfort! Ask Jim, the host, to add an hour of outdoor skill training to your weekend visit, as he's a registered maine guide! There are numerous places to set up a tent, and you have the option of canoeing, bringing your own kayaks or small skiff, or talking with Jim about options for his assistance getting out to the island! Even opt to take the train up the coast, where he will pick you up! There's tons of paddling options, and we listened to multiple critters as we fell asleep. The comfort of having a host with such experience allowed us to feel as though we were having a private retreat, and it was amazing!
Beautiful views of the classic Vermont landscape, with the charm of Waterbury, access to mountains on all sides & the infamous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. All in all, endless opportunities for adventures & good eats!
Maine Adventure Treehouses is an incredible spot to stay. Not only are there a number of options to stay, from full accommodations to a more rustic camping-style treehouse! There's also a hike that overlooks the whole area, and a full disc-golf course! The owners are amazing, provide you with all you can need, and are happy to show you around the place they have created! (And almost all the work has been done by them!)
Misty Mountain Farm is a true treasure. Not only is the farm extremely hands-on for campers interested in meeting the creatures, but there are numerous treats along the way. Wilbur, the boar is a really sweetie, as are the piglets! Pups, kitties, goats, horses, ponies, cows, birds, bunnies... just about everything! There are also hot and cold tubs, which is an awesome detox at the end of the day! Another amazing treat was a surprise delivery of fresh goat cheese, made daily! There are two sites, supplied with facilities, and some extra supplies for spicing up your time! I loved visiting the farm and the hills of VT.
Field Of Dreams was a wonderful place to set up home. Not only is Ellen kind and a wonderful host, but the rest of her family as well! We enjoyed some good long walks (4 miles) on dirt farm roads, and even got up early to hike the close-by Temple Mountain! It's a beautiful and quiet location.
This is a true sanctuary. By far one of my favorite sites to date as a Hipcamper, and one I will pass on to anyone looking to enjoy a camping trip. The Newkirk family are not only wonderful people, gracious and welcoming hosts, but also fun and deeply devoted to the oasis they are creating. They have two wonderful spots that are private and secluded, woods trails, swimming spot, kayaks and more. They also supply helpful signs, everything to help simplify the upscale version of pack it out, and supplies to make the time even better. I would be ecstatic to stay here again and again!
We had a wonderful stay with Cliff and his family. There wooded spot was quiet, and we listened to a great horned owl on and off the evening and night! They have a wonderful spot for campfires, so bring your smore's gear! They also have bikes available, and you can visit a potato farm at the end of their road! They also have a wonderful little camper that we enjoyed opting to spend the evening in-- and it's spacious and has lots of space for a group!!
Nancy has created a little slice of heaven for a passing camper in one of the most incredible and beautiful places in the USA. The site is secluded and individual, but has an amazing tent platform & stairs to access. There's space to back straight up to the site, which was awesome for moving gear. We loved having the campfire, especially to help with bugs! Definitely bring bug spray, they are forceful. There's also water hookup right at site and electric! This is truly a gem, and I would camp there again any day. I hope everyone gets to experience the park through this site.
The camp sites available at Brandmoore Farm are not only beautiful, but Becky and Phil give you tons of range to choose where you'd like to wake up! There is also barn space for cooking and a work table, along with a few electric plugs which can be helpful for multi-night campers! Overall, the farm is a beautiful and incredible operation of local & organic values and wonderful people making it happen!
Motherwort Farm is a unique gem, complete with a tour guide (Yukon!), and with both a tent platform & simple cabin. Gretchen can speak to the variety of herbs and medicinal plants that she grows, along with purposes for the work they do on their land. Exploring trails are available, though tick checks are a definite must after an adventure!
A truly incredible place. The care and energy that is clearly given to the incredible property makes the experience of camping feel like a private oasis. There were tons of walking trails and all three campsites are extremely well maintained. Definitely worth asking for the rental canoe to explore the river, and maybe take a dip if you're adventurous! We did, and it was incredibly warm! An absolute gem. I will stay here many more times without a doubt!
