This was such a lovely trip! My friend and I camped at Site #1 during the week – there were no other guests at the Cottage or Site #2, but it looked like there were designated "hang out" areas for each of these spaces, as well as a great common area with fire pit (not in effect during fire season), lawn games, and propane grill. Compared to some state campgrounds, Sites #1 and 2 were well-spaced without real visibility between the tent areas, though picnic tables were in view of one another. The bathroom was spectacularly clean, well-ventilated, and outfitted with disinfecting wipes. We weren't able to build a fire during our stay, but the outdoor string lights were super charming and bright. The neighborhood was calm, with a variety of creatures (turkeys, dogs, cats, roosters!). For those who are sound-sensitive, there were occasional loud motorists on the nearby highway, but it happens. Lastly, April was so warm, responsive, and communicative – a great host overall! Highly recommended for those looking for a safe, serene escape – during COVID or otherwise!
We had such a special time at Gary's ranch! We had a group of six and reserved both campsites. The reservation included access to an incredible array of amenities, including:
--kitchen (w/dishware, utensils, pots, pans, baking sheets, serving utensils, knives, aluminum foil, saran wrap, salt, pepper, etc.) and oven, stovetop, griddle, and bbq's
--multiple outdoor areas with tables and chairs, lit up beautifully at night
--large firepit w/firewood
--large rotunda with dance floor and dimming lights (not that we needed this!)
--outdoor shower (no curtain but no problem for us!)
--3 chemical toilets
--camping chairs and floating tubes for swim area
We were sharing the facilities with another couple who was staying in one of the AirBnB cabins, but there was plenty of space for everyone. Gary and the host Jose were friendly and great with communication. They obviously care a lot about the property. We had a great time walking to the cow pasture, cooking communal meals, and having an overall "summer camp" experience. The only thing I would note is that water in the swimming area was very still, so we decided not to swim in the area but dipped our toes where the water was running. Overall, a lovely surprise – would definitely return!
