The Little Red Cabin was absolutely wonderful for a weekend getaway. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals, but we also enjoyed checking out the Highlander restaurant in Ashford, which is only a few miles down the road.
The area is great for hiking and exploring. The cabin is situated so close to Mt. Rainier, making access to the National Park lands a breeze. Peggy was incredible accommodating as a host, and easy to get ahold of when needed. I look forward to staying in her cabin again!
Tranquil Acres was a lovely spot along the river in Quilcene. There was plenty of room near the river for a few tents and accompanying campers. There was also a spot nestled in the trees away from the river, providing a more sheltered option for a campsite.
The path/road down from the hosts home to the campsites is pretty steep in the beginning, and about 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk. Pack efficiently and wear good shoes, or have an SUV to get you and your gear down to your campsite.
Shawn was responsive and welcoming as a host. There were fishermen along the bank of the river both when we arrived and in the AM, so depending on fishing season, it may not be 100% private. However, watching the salmon swim upstream was a highlight of visiting this spot in Mid-September.
