The Hammock Hut is a cozy reprieve from the desert wind and sun. I loved falling asleep while looking up at the stars through the exposed roof. Waking up in the Hammock Hut was a delight. Usually when I camp in the desert, the sun warms up my car or tent and forces me to start my day. But in the Hammock Hut, I woke up leisurely, as the open-air structure kept the hut cool and comfortable until late in the morning. If hammock sleeping isn’t for you, you can always camp on the floor of the hut and still enjoy the comfort and privacy the structure provides.
The Bird Line has so many great sheltered spots to rest and relax. This trip, I managed to take a nap in the hammock in the lanai of the main building and in the hammocks in the Hammock Hut. This is perhaps my favorite thing about the Bird Line—that I always feel so comfortable even in such a remote location. I would definitely recommend the Bird Line to anyone seeking peace and connection to nature.
Another peaceful and fun stay at the Bird Line! I had a great time getting to know my fellow campers around the communal firepit and then later at the communal indoor living space when we all played cards together.
I also got to try out the new outdoor shower just in time for an epic sunset view. What a treat! There’s plenty of privacy, and the water gets hot quickly. Would definitely recommend for a one-of-a-kind shower experience!
Another beautiful stay at the Bird Line. If you’re considering a trip to Joshua Tree or the surrounding area, be sure to book at the Bird Line. It’s such a peaceful, comfortable space. It’s more than just a campsite. The common space inside is well designed and offers quiet reprieve.
The Bird Line has quickly become my go-to destination when I need to escape city life and find peace in the desert.
Michael is an exceptional host. He is at once both warm/welcoming and respectful of my space/time. He promotly answered all my questions pre-arrival, and he had great recommendations for things to do in Wonder Valley / Joshua Tree.
The Bird Line itself is one of the most beautiful spaces I’ve been in. Modern rustic desert vibes. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. It is accessible in its simplicity and thoughtfully refined in its design. The lighting is warm and glowing, especially at night. The lighting fixtures are art!
