Oh goodness just the drive in! Those 8 miles- they are a long 8 miles but they are gorgeous! Don’t give up- keep going- the road changes numbers but it’s there. Your host is friendly and awesome and since it’s covid season and we’re all being safe he’s good about being safe. I had my van up nestled in a private spot in the trees and it was lovely. Someone else had posted about it being not level. I guess that’s true but he leveled out a spot after that to fix it. I just parked my van in the old spot in front of the cool table and fire pit and was fine. Was only there for a night but got in a gorgeous evening sunset walk around the property and down the road. It’s a special place!
This is not glamping. It’s better. This is solitude under a full sky of stars and lightening bugs sparkling and the river and wind rushing you forget there is another world somewhere else.
If you like nature. If you want to be alone with some birds and yes, a few bugs. And some cattle in the distance, and deer and the water and wind and sky... did I say that already? This is your place.
I didn’t actually stay at the diving lake. I stayed at the other one. Teal, who is awesome, gave me a choice. She’s a badass woman and I recommend you have some 4-wheel drive that can keep up with her. You don’t need it, but it might be helpful. I ended up getting stuck on the off road and Teal came back out on her Saturday night to rig me up and pull my van out of the ditch. I probably shouldn’t have expected it to make it down to that particular campsite.
This is a special place. If you need your amenities go elsewhere and leave this to those who love nature. I will never forget this spot. And I would definitely go back!
