Bar UK was a beautiful spot. Clear maps and communication for easy arrival. Was greeted by the delightful Michelle. Large, well kept sites. The fire pit, chairs and table next to the Lewis River was very relaxing. We were even left wild flowers and grapes on our table. Large spots that are easy to drive into with cars or vans. Nice hike with area for dogs to run. River access was slightly challenging but manageable with paddle boards or kayaks (there were 2 kayaks on the river for camper use!) Rope swing was super fun! Will definitely be returning to Bar UK.
Second time at Horse lovers camp. Again Steve and Michelle the owners are delightful. Clean property is a great place to camp with the kids. So many fun animals including horses, pigs, dogs, bunnies and this year there were even baby owls!
Highly recommended destination.
O! The Joy! Is a cool camp 30 minutes from Astoria. Carl was there working on the property while we were there and we witnesses the first water on the property, nice work Carl!. He has super cool and has a good vision for the camp and is working hard toward making it an even nicer place to be. The Grey River boarders the property and would be a quiet kayak spot. Keep in mind the River level rises/lowers with the tides.
Great little structure to throw a tent if weather rolls in.
Comfortable and quiet spot.
Enjoy the Joy!
Forget State camp spots, book your group camp here. We had almost 20 in our group and all shapes of vehicles made it up the forest service 'jeep' road. I made it in my 50 year old VW bus no problem. beautiful scene, clean toilet and an amazing host. You will be please with this private oasis with amazing view of Mt. Hood. Thank you Rachael for you over and above service.
The Cedar Root property was a gorgeous escape from town. Only 25 minutes from Oregon City. Brad was a great host, communicated well and greeted us when he arrived. His property is open enough for several camps to either enjoy their alone time or congregate around the fire, sauna or... trampoline!
Don’t let the title fool you though this is a true animal lovers dream. Upon pulling into camp we were greeted by 5 farm dogs all of which were very friendly and a kitten who made himself at home in our bed!
Our camp was just feet away from a bunny house that had momma bunny and 3 babies and just beyond that is a small field of horses. Once you make your way over to the barn area you will be see the rest of the amazing animals. Ms. Piggy and her baby pigs were my favorite although they were just a few among lots of pigs and a few really BIG pigs (all of which were super friendly).
Michelle and Steve could not have been better hosts. Steve not only saved the day with missing chocolate for the kid’s s’mores, but had great information on the waterholes and places nearby to see and paddle. Michelle delivered us some amazing farm fresh eggs and wandered the farm showing the kids all sorts of fun! Both of them and all of the other folks out on the farm were polite, respectful and full of good information.
