Great experience! The campsite is on a ~30 acre, heavily wooded property in a fairly remote part of Medocino. Cosmo is an excellent host and really made us feel welcome. We were his first campers through Hip Camp and this was the first time we used Hip Camp. So it was a learning experience for both of us.
The campsite overlooks a magnificent valley and awesome sunset views. The morning views are just as spectacular because we were above the fog and could not see a house in a full 270 degree view. And, if you happen to go out in the early morning before sunrise, the night sky is mind-blowing. Cosmo says that this is one of the "darkest" parts of California in terms of light pollution. The stars were so close you could almost reach up an touch them.
The location was a little tricky to find because Google has it a little wrong because there is no cell phone coverage so for a city slicker like me, I almost freaked. But once you know that that property is near the 20 mile marker you should be able to find it.
Cosmo is probably going to make some improvements but when we went, the campsite was pretty primitive. No bathrooms or running water. Because of the remoteness, it is very much like backcountry camping. Bring in what you need and you will be fine. That said, it is only about 45-minute drive to Orr Hot Springs and the wineries in Anderson Valley.
I highly recommend camping here and plan to do it again.
