Let me start by saying that I knew going into this weekend getaway that I would be in the woods. I was definitely prepared for certain things. What I wasn't prepared for was the bugs in the trailer and how uncomfortable I would actually be in the area.
When we arrived, our GPS took us to the wrong location. The address we were given was actually the hosts' other property with multiple campers and cottages. This is where we were expecting to stay and being around other hip campers made us feel comfortable. But Walt, the host, arrived and let us know that our trailer was actually four miles down the road. He led us there and was very welcoming as he showed us around the property. But, the property was in the middle of nowhere and there was only one occupied house near us that we could see.
Once he left, we started to explore. Beware, there are several soft spots in the floor of the trailer and it feels like you might fall through at any moment. Once the sun went down, we started to have issues. There were several bugs in the kitchen and bathroom sink. Then, I had to kill the largest roach I've ever seen. We decided to go outside to start a small fire. The hosts left supplies for smores, which was greatly appreciated. However, once we were out there a car drove by very slowly and green lasers were coming out of the windows pointing at things around the car. We assumed this was a gun and immediately went inside, very scared and uncomfortable. We tried to go to bed after all of this, but we felt too unsafe and decided to cut our three day weekend short and we left.
The next day, I messaged Cassandra, the host, to let her know what happened and she has not responded to me at all. We were trying to be understanding of the situation and thought that maybe glamping in the woods wasn't for us, but the lack of response is unacceptable. We felt very unsafe after the car incident and it would have been nice for her to acknowledge the situation.
