Sheila and Bob's treehouse is one of the most magical and unique places we've ever stayed! Not only are they the sweetest hosts (we ended up just hanging out and chatting for most of the day!), but everything was so clean and comfortable that we felt right at home. The bathroom is super close by (in the main building right next to the treehouse), the screened in cooking area is so cozy, and the fire pit would be great for summer/fall nights making smores! Plus you're pretty close to both Saranac Lake and Lake Placid if you're down for a little drive. They built the treehouse themselves in the 80's and it looks like something right out of Treehouse Masters! Plus, their super sweet puppy Denali brought us all of the sticks we could have ever wanted. We will absolutely be coming back whenever we're in the area.
Our stay at the farm was so so great! Lots of space for multiple tents and great big bonfire spot. The trail to get to the site is a little bit rough for low riding cars but we made it in our minivan just fine! Definitely a really secluded spot that would be perfect for a big group of people with 4x4s, although not necessary it to get there. We also happened to stay just when the pigs had piglets and they were so unbelievably cute and tiny! Ask about fresh eggs and lettuce too! You're staying on a working farm so there's a ton of yummy homegrown options!
Liz was so wonderful and accommodating! We ended up booking last minute and Liz did everything she could to help us be comfortable. The site itself was so beautiful too! A magical little place in the woods with a creek nearby we felt so safe and relaxed the whole time! The little path up the hill is covered in wild flowers, she has gorgeous poppies all over. Make sure you bring bug spray cause there were quite a few mosquitos, but totally worth it for this place!
Our stay at the yurt was so great! Tucked right next to the lodge of a ski resort, we had a really cool summer experience while the resort was closed. It was great exploring the grounds and seeing what the lifts look like in the summer. The yurt itself is massive too! Great big screened windows, sky light, big comfy bed and spaces to hang with friends. You're super close to Otter Brook State Park too!
We had an AMAZING stay at Casita de Sol y Luna! One of the most beautifully designed cabins we've ever stayed in, in such a magical spot too. The sunset glows through the reclaimed windows in the evening, and the sunrise wakes you gently in the morning. Super cozy! We spent our evening dipping our toes in the almost bathtub warm pond water and catching pollywogs, then grilled up some taco fillings right on the deck out back. Not to mention hanging with some of the cutest goats we've ever seen (watch out, they like to nibble on your clothes and hair after they lull you in with their cute little faces!). Would definitely come stay again!
Our stay at Hemlock Perch was amazing! Great site, super clean and private. The walk down the hill to the site is a short and easy trek from your car, but you feel very secluded under the big gorgeous pines. Your tent sits right on top of a little bridge turned tent pad that sits above a creek, so you hear the relaxing sounds of trickling water all night. The incinerating outhouse was so cool too! Super clean, nicely designed.
We had an absolutely amazing time at Good Night Moon! Juli was super accommodating and communicative, and the site was stunningly beautiful! Great little pond that's great for swimming, beautiful stars at night, sweet outdoor kitchen set up, and the coziest little campers ever! For how small they look from the outside the inside is really spacious feeling. Also they had the CLEANEST and biggest outhouse (with a composting toilet) we've ever used! Plus, we were right near the a ton of great antique place. Would definitely come back again!
Pamela was so wonderful and helpful with everything that we needed! As soon as we arrived she greeted us with open arms and showed us around the huge property. We were on the hunt for some local milk and eggs and she was full of great suggestions also. The site was nice and private, very quiet, and comfortable. We would love to come back again!
Bill and Stephanie were super responsive and great hosts! We met up with Stephanie right on the main road and she led us right to our site and we were amazed by how beautiful everything was! Only 15 minutes from Joshua Tree we were able to set up camp and head right into the national park for a great sunset. The site itself was was stunning, really diverse plant life (so many different cacti!) and huge beautiful joshua trees! You could hear the coyotes yipping at night, and we felt super secluded and safe even though we were right outside of town. We can't wait to come back and stay here again.
PInwheel Acres is a perfect little secluded area of the desert that is great for anyone looking for a nice escape and really feel like you're out there! You have to take some dirt roads to get there, but you're right across from a great tortoise preserve and surrounded by wildlife! We got to watch jack rabbits and lizards run around all night and were very comfortable. A great place to stop by if you need a quick place to stay!
Our site and hosts were so wonderful that we ended up spending an extra day just to hang out with them! Mark and Bonnie welcomed us as if we were one of the family and we felt so lucky to have found them. The property is filled with citrus and olives, over 60 super friendly farm animals that made our stay even more interesting and fun. We got to pet baby sheep, walk around with the chickens, there was always a dog somewhere to pet, and we even got to hold their newborn kittens! If you love animals this is definitely the place for you. You'll wake up to roosters calling, chickens clucking, and beautiful sunshine. Only a little over an hour from Sequoia National Park, we were able to bounce back and forth to the park and drive really scenic roads the whole way. Lots of potential adventures nearby! We couldn't recommend the site any more highly and can't wait to come back!
