Christine and her property were fantastic! She was very accommodating and allowed us to situate our tents so they wore overlooking the pond - what a beautiful sunset view! The campsite was clean and more or less private (there was another group of campers, but we couldn't see or hear them through the trees). There is a portaloo nearby and we had access to the shower head by the barn - nice to wash dishes after a meal.
Only advice to future campers is to bring a few bundles of firewood - we purchased a bundle, but to make both your and Christine's life easier, pick up a few on your way out. The closest Publix (6 miles) sells firewood for $6/bundle.
We only stayed one night but will definitely come back - Christine's property is beautiful and is a great place to get away from the city. We left feeling refreshed and recharged.
If you're looking for an impromptu weekend camping trip, this spot is a great place to go! Wake up with dappled sunlight and birdsong in the morning, and fall asleep to moon and starlight at night.
Staying at Country Lane Camp was a great escape from daily life for a few days. Joan was very welcoming and greeted me as I arrived. She and her husband were great hosts and I would recommend staying for a couple of nights.
The campsite was well laid out and very private from the house. There is a large light that can be used at night as well as three plug-ins next to the tent pad. The table and chairs made life easier for cooking, although there are plenty of places to eat within a 10 mile radius if you're not looking to cook on a camp stove. You can pull your vehicle right up to the site - no need to lug gear and supplies.
A simple welcome card outlining the rules is on the table and firewood and fire starters were provided.
If you're not picky about water, the tap on hand is potable and clean. There is a garbage bin available, but bring bags just in case.
A hot water shower is available and a short walk from the site. The outhouse is quite well built and is also only a short walk away. If you're feeling like taking a walk, a nature trail circles the property where you can see various birds and raptors flying in between the trees.
I had a great time during my stay and was very pleased with how everything was set up. I would stay here again!
