I loved my stay on this land. First of all, there's an incredible swimming spot right on the Yuba river on the way into camp. I stopped on the way in (evening) and in the morning to swim and had the place to myself. It's a sandy, sunny, safe spot. Robert was super sweet and helpful throughout. If you get to meet him, you're lucky! I explored a few of the sites. There's a great car camping spot that's spacious and quiet. It's perfect if your car is not as rugged as you'd like (mine is a 2wd). If you want to park your car and hike into the other sites, it's a great spot for that as well. Honestly, the roads aren't too rugged and most 2wd could probably get up to the other sites as well. The other sites have lots to offer. There's a very large one that would be ideal for larger groups. It's flat, shaded, and very near to the brand new (spotless and beautiful) outhouses. There are also some more secluded spots campers could set up camp nestled further into the woods. If you have any questions definitely reach out to Robert, he was incredibly kind and helpful throughout my booking process and stay and he knows so much about the land, the wildlife that he shares it with, and the region as a whole. I'd definitely recommend this site for groups (large or small) as well as solo adventurers. 2wd & 4wd can easily get in and out. I really hope to visit again.
Hands down my favorite hipcamp stay to date! The property is nestled into a huge meadow with a view of Mount Shasta from the treehouse AND the meadow. There's a huge wooden platform that's great for all sorts of activities and a picnic table there, too. The treehouse is clean, beautiful, as described, and it really is nestled into gigantic, moss-covered trees, so there's lots of shade. A hammock is hung over the creek, perfect for watching the light of the day change, for reading or napping. Spacious and clean composting toilet with lots of privacy and adorable bridges that take you over the creek and into the meadow. A solar shower is hung by the creek and there were beautiful flowers in small vases scattered about (as well as lots of wildflowers growing all over). ALSO - not to be missed - a beautiful pond/lake/reservoir a mile from the property. It's beautiful and comfortable (not freezing at all) to swim in. Families swim and float here. The property is pretty close to Shasta town with cute coffee shops, grocery stores, gas, etc. I'd recommend this place to everyone and hope to return myself. Gary was amazing.
I loved my stay at Too Far Out farm so much. I wish I had more days to spend with Debbie, Mike, Carrie, and all the beautiful (and well-behaved) animals on the farm. There's a great mix of creatures that live on the land here, but no roosters (so you can sleep in!). Sheep, horses, a goat and dogs (I saw). The campsite is spacious enough for a bunch of tents, an RV, or vandwelling. There's a huge fire pit and lots of wood to burn. It's surrounded by beautiful green fields and there's a great loop to walk or ride that takes you right down to Sugar Lake and back. If you like or have horses than you're particularly in luck here! There's a great composting toilet down away from the house and from camp in a private little spot.
This is a super spacious and friendly place to stay. It's also very near to the Erie National Wildlife Refuge.
Super beautiful property with happy, social goats and productive chickens! Beautiful views from the top of the hill all day and night, and very kind hosts! Firewood was placed near the fire pit before we even arrived and there's a large tent to camp in if you prefer that. The campsite is huge, however, so there's plenty of room to pitch your own tents. We got very lucky and caught Tom on his way out and were gifted delicious eggs from his chickens (which we cooked for breakfast). We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone in the neighborhood.
Spent one night in this beautiful and spacious Sibley Tent. I wish I could have stayed a month. Awesome small town with a vibrant music scene, friendly people, beautiful and playful dog (not strays, with loving owners), and an incredible landscape. The tent was great and the facilities exceeded expectations - clean and kitschy bathrooms and hot showers. Can't wait to get back here.
